Very sad...I remember watching the memorial held for Griffen.

Five people were arrested Thursday in connection with the death of Griffen Kramer, a Thousand Oaks High School football player who police think may have died from a drug overdose Oct. 30.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department searched six homes Thursday morning and arrested three adults and two juveniles, according to Lt. John Corina.

David Nernberg, 19, of Agoura Hills was arrested on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter and the other four for unspecified misdemeanor allegations, Corina said.

Kramer, 18, of Agoura Hills, the son of former NFL quarterback Erik Kramer, was found dead at Nernberg's home, authorities said.

Details released on overdose of high school quarterback Griffen Kramer

..........Shortly after the 18-year-old son of former NFL player Erik Kramer shot up [heroin] on Oct. 30, he started foaming at the mouth while his friends watched, homicide detective Sgt. Barry Hall said.

David Nernberg, 19, called his friends asking what he should do as Kramer slipped into unconsciousness, Hall said.

"Rather then seek medical attention, he took him to his house and let him sleep it off," Hall said Friday, a day after five people were arrested. Nernberg was arrested on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter........

When Kramer was found on the morning of Oct. 30, he likely had been dead for some time, Hall said.

From November 2012:

David Nernberg, the teen held legally responsible in the heroin overdose of Griffen Kramer on Oct. 30, 2011, pleaded no contest to involuntary manslaughter in a Los Angeles court last week.

At the Nov. 8 hearing, Judge Mark Windham found Nernberg, 19, guilty of the manslaughter charge and sentenced him to five years’ probation, 90 days of community labor and financial restitution to the Kramer family...

While Kramer was deemed responsible for allowing himself to be injected with heroin, medical experts agreed that the teen could have recovered had he been taken to a hospital.
