Karma Diaz went missing sometime between 11:30 p.m. and midnight, according to the Phoenix Police Department. The mother and her boyfriend left their home at about 11:30 p.m. to run an errand. The girl was asleep at the time. When the couple returned, the girl was missing and the backdoor was open.

Holmes said the little girl's mother and her boyfriend went out to run an errand, leaving the child home. When they returned about 30 minutes later, they found an outside door to the home was wide open, Karma's bedroom light was on and Karma was not in her bed.
The couple searched the house and called 911. Dozens of officers responded and have been searching for her.
"We're not sure how she got out," Holmes said.
A neighbor who has a grandson about the girl's age received a call about the missing toddler early Tuesday morning and has been searching on her own, including in a nearby wash.
"When I got the call, I just got dressed and came out," the woman said. "As cold as it is, being out here all night, she's probably curled up somewhere, trying to be warm."
There are several hazards in the area surrounding Karma's home. Not only is there a canal nearby, Loop 101 is just a few blocks north.

I have reached a point that when parents leave their children unattended and they go missing they should be "ARRESTED" and put in JAIL!

Two people do NOT need to go to the store to run errands at 11:30 PM leaving a small toddler alone. WTF!!! WTH!

The headline of the article I read was "Toddler Left Home Alone Disappears" so it sounds like no one was watching her.

Why do people think it is ok to either 1) leave their children home alone or 2)leave them with inept people to look after them. Children are a precious gift and their lives are seemingly not important to some people.

Here we go again. I guess these types of caregivers have realized that the kidnapper story isn't cutting it so they've switched to the wandering away story.

i don't understand how parents can do this in this day and age, when there are so many evil people roaming this earth that abuse/kill children.

i really hope this little one if found safe

would CPS class this as a form of neglect? in my book it is

just seen your post nursie. were the "couple" sleeping and was karma also in her bed? my boy is just turning 3 and he has never had the incline to get up in the middle of the night and wander around? i would hope she was in her bed at 11.30 that IMO is well past a 2.5 yr olds bedtime.

Oh jeez, not again. I have a feeling this one is not going to have a happy ending. There is absolutely NO REASON why two adults would need to run an "errand" at any time of day and leave a toddler alone.

I am steaming mad right now and praying that this little sweetie will be found unharmed soon. What a cutie pie!
