Spokesman William Terrell said it's too early to speculate, but he confirmed that the body found off Exit 14 is believed to be that of a white female, the report said. The body, which Camden County Sheriff Tommy Gregory said had been there for some time, will be taken to Macon for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Terrell said that there are no missing persons in Camden County who are unaccounted for, according to First Coast News

BBM. I wonder what they are considering "some time"?? Weeks? Months? Years?

Deputy William Terrell declined to say Thursday how she died but said, “absolutely, it was foul play.’’
The woman was 5-foot-2, weighed about 140 pounds, thought to be 25 to 35 years old and had dark brown hair.
Medical examiners estimate she had been beside the road five to six days.
The victim also had two tattoos: a ribbon on her lower left leg and a butterfly with “Babycakes” above over it on her lower back, both of them blue.
Terrell said it is unlikely that anyone else had the same combination of tattoos on the same areas of their bodies.
The body was in some brush just a few feet off the mowed right-of-way on the eastern side of the northbound access ramp. It was beside a fence, intended to keep animals out of the roadway, that likely prevented whoever dumped the body from carrying it farther into the woods, Terrell said

this is the other one that I found (it is a male fwiw)

The body of a Fort Stewart man was discovered Tuesday morning on Union Carbide Road in Camden County.

The body of James A. Willis III, 25, was found at about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday on the north side of the road, approximately 9 miles east of Interstate 95, according to the Camden County Sheriff's Office. The body was discovered by two men about 20 feet off the road to the entrance to Cabin Bluff.

eta: there were three arrests made in this case: another soldier and two civillians... most likely not related....

So if she was only there for 5-6 days she's probably not listed as missing in any of the sites we have access to right?

This was my childhood best friend. One of the tattoos was for her mother who had passed when we were kids. Her name is Melissa Comiskey (McCarthy). I have been looking for additional information in her case as it is still unsolved. I am thrilled that she has not been forgotten

I am glad to see you found this thread Jbear. I saw you mention Melissa's case in another thread.

So sad to see there have been no new updates on this case in a while. 27 is so young to have a life interrupted. The items below share the same scant info and none are recent. RIP Melissa.

A truck driver who stopped his rig beside the ramp to have a flat tire repaired and the mechanic who changed the tire discovered her body about 2:30 p.m. Nov. 30, as they walked in the Exit 14 right of way, Terrell said.

The body was lying in the edge of undergrowth bordering a fence a few feet from the mowed right of way

Thank you.
I appreciate all of the links and know that this is a crime that appears to have a stalled investigation.

so here is what I can tell you. Melissa and I met at the age of 5. We went to school together. Her mother and mine were best friends. Her and her brother were both adopted by her mother Karen and father bob. Right before we were 10 I moved away but we saw each other here and there. She wrote letters and sent pictures. Pretty soon after her mother passed from cancer and her nana and father raised her. Both her and her brother appeared to have a hard time.

fast forward to 2008/9. I was thinking a lot about her and reached out to her family to try and get in touch with her. We reconnected and I wanted her to attend my wedding. She was having problems with her neighbor who had apparently injured her and was starting a divorce process. Her husband is a cop in NJ. One of the last times I talked to her she told me he was being ruthless and she wasn't going to have a phone or place to live soon. The next thing I know her body is being found on the side of 95 down around the FL/GA line and not more than happened it appears after she was identified.
