LA MONTE, Mo. • Skeletal remains have been found near a wooded area in Pettis County.

And the sheriff's office says an autopsy is planned for Monday to determine the identity of the victim and the cause of death.

Sheriff Kevin Bond told the Sedalia Democrat that foul play hasn't been ruled out.

The investigation began Friday after a passing motorist reported seeing clothing and bones near U.S. 50 in an area about one mile east of La Monte.

The sheriff's office says the victim was likely a male who had been hitchhiking or walking along the highway several months ago. The victim apparently stopped to camp in the wooded area.

Evidence recovered at the scene shows the victim wasn't from the area, but had been in Sedalia in June or July.

Why do you think it's not, Kimster?
It all seems to match to me. Bones found Friday Nov 25 on an apparent makeshift campsite, autopsy on Monday 28th, ID found on scene, a male from out of town.

...
On Friday, personal identification of a male in his mid-40's was recovered from the scene. Detectives have since interviewed several people who came into contact with the man while he was briefly in Sedalia in June and early July. He is believed to have left Sedalia and was on foot en route to Texas around July 11th.

This UID may have been identified given there is and likely never was a NamUs profile for him. After making a phone call or two if it's still not evident he's been identified, I'll submit just in case.

UID LaMonte, MO Nov. 2011
No profile in NamUs. No follow up news artciles.

Bobby Leonard Beavers
NamUs profile
The Charley Project profile

The article lists the UID as having passed through the Sedalia, MO area in June or July 2011. Mr. Beavers' profile states that his niece believes he's homeless and possibly out of state. He's from N. Little Rock, Arkansas and UID was located in LaMonte, (Pettis county) MO. That's about a 6-hr drive. Timing is within 8 months. There are no physical descriptors to compare as UID doesn't have any profiles I could find.
