Very little information has been reported so far. The location is along hwy 59 just south of I-610 and about two miles east of I-45, near the Eastex Fwy and the North Loop. A work crew clearing a lot found the remains.

I don't know, Katydid. There's a long list of possibilities. The location is out of the way for Hailey, but anything's possible.

I hope they do a search of those woods right there by A on the map.

I wonder how they know she is 31 and they don't have a name or any other information on her. Seems strange.

Can someone give more detail about the following body count.
Would this be the total body count for the year?

Bayou Body Count No. 193

Maybe she had her DOB tattooed on her somewhere.
Just guessing.

Officials are asking the public to help them identify a woman whose skeletal remains were found in a wooded area near a vacant house in northeast Houston earlier this year.

Officials said she is between 35 years old and 55 years old. She is between 5 feet and 5 feet, 5 inches tall. Her teeth are in poor condition. Some teeth are missing and the remaining teeth have decay.

No, it isn't the official body count. That's just an informal count done by the Houston Press, I believe. They are independent of the Houston Police Department, and focus on articles about local happenings, art, culture, etc. I think they started keeping their own count a few years ago when someone noticed how many bodies are found and are under-reported.

A black leather Nike athletic shoe was found near her body. Also found with her was a silver cross pendant on a silver chain. The cross was engraved in Spanish."

We have a general discussion thread on this woman in the UID forum and according to that thread, she has been removed from NamUs, presumably identified.
