Sharon Kedzierski of Florida was recently identified as a long unidentified Mahoning County Jane Doe. According to the below article Dennis Hetzel who died in prison in 1995 was a suspect in her killing who the DA indicted secretly in 1993 but who ended up instead being extradited to Texas and tried and convicted in a different case.

The article makes mention of the truck stop murders, but the wording is unclear to me. It says Hetzel was not considered as a suspect in those murders. I'm not sure if they are trying to say he is still not considered a suspect or that he wasn't on their radar at that time, but later he was.

I believe this case was on Unsolved Mysteries back in the day? If so, I remember the images of the victims being particularly haunting. Man I hope this one is solved someday!

Has anyone been able to find a photo of Dennis Hetzel? Im curious to see what this sicko looks like. I think its important for the public to see him as well in the event it jogs any memories regarding other missing persons cases.

I found this small article saying that DHs employers pager number was found on the victims body and he had a route in the area were she was found. Also bite marks matched.

    Attachment 33431

However he was ruled out. I found a couple articles but the links didn't work. This one does.

Dennis Ketzel was ruled out by DNA. He was charged and convicted of raping his 5 and 7 year old daughters and apparently died in prison. I haven't found a cause of death yet.

Anna Marie’s head had been bashed in and she was brutally beaten. An autopsy revealed that she had been killed within 48 hours of her disappearance. Disturbingly, the condition of her body clearly indicated that the killer had kept it refrigerated for nearly a month. Michael Berens.

There's a clue in there somewhere. I just can't put my finger on it. I can't figure out how he would be able to keep her in the trailer for so long without her being discovered. My honey drives truck for a big company and the shipper or reciever always unload and load the trailor. Sometimes, the companies use independant lumpers that you pay a fee to, in those cases you could choose to do it yourself. Sometimes the shippers want a seal on the trailor only to be broken by the reciever. Often they switch trailors.

When I asked my guy how could somebody get away with that he suggested that maybe he was a independant owner/operator with a local dedicated route who always went to the same places where he did his own "lumping".

Just thinking out loud I guess.

This article is an absolute must read...

    http://www.gq.com/news-politics/news...?currentPage=1

Well written account of a teenage runaway who may have had contact and escaped from Robert Rhoades dubbed The Truck Stop Killer.

Rhoades has been in jail since 1990. I'm not clear on the dates of the Ohio victims, but I believe they were all before 1990. Any chance RR killed these women?

    ETA:

Anna Marie Patterson, aka Cindy Lawson, aka Jenny Morrison, age 27, found March 23, 1987 according to one report (Feb. 8, 1987 according to another.) near I-71 in Warren County, Ohio ( bottom left)

Shirley Dean Taylor, age 26, (in one account and age 23 in another) body found July 20, 1986 on Route 224 in Medina County, Ohio

Just trying to sort out and get to know the victims. It hard to weed through and separate all the victims from all the truck driver killers! Good God there are so many! Please jump right in if you can help clear up the discrepancies.

There is a short thread here on Sharon. She remained uid for two decades

She was originaly from Pembroke Pines, Fla., about 15 miles north of Miami.
Authorities say she last had contact with her family in October 1989, when she was 43. She was found dead of blunt force injuries near a parking lot in suburban Youngstown in April 1992.

I remember seeing this on Unsolved Mysteries, in fact, I might have the segment on a Beta tape around here somewhere.

There was also a big article about the case in the June 1992 issue of CrimeBeat Magazine which contained an unrelated article by me as well - the first thing I wrote that I actually got paid for. The July 1992 issue also had a brief update article about the Truckstop Killer. At the time, there was some conjecture that this murderer might be the same guy as the Green River Killer.
This is my opinion and to the best of my knowledge, that is, if I'm not joking.

Then there the JD in Bessie's post.

That makes six so far counting the two women in the above picture who names (for what reason I can't fathom) were not revealed. I can't imagine why in the map above where they pinned the locations of the bodies they also didn't specify each victim found at those locations. Frustrating!

    Who am I missing?

you could say that for sure--as of 2009, it was approximated to be 500 vics from drivers, and the suspect pool was 200--so, by now it must be 600 vics, maybe another 25-30 added to the suspect pool

Sorry, but I don't. I do have the magazines though and perhaps the UM segment if the old Betamax might possibly still work. I can't even find anything right off the top when I google CrimeBeat Magazine. It was a big glossy large-format color magazine like a Life or Look magazine but about true crime. I think it was in business from 1991-1993 and I miss it like I do Unsolved Mysteries on TV.

Yeah it's overwhelming!! For this thread lets focus on getting to know the Ohio victims and the possible connection to this Dr No/Dragon/Stargazer Although I can see already it's WAY BIGGER THAN just these victims and certainly more than one killer. God, no wonder these cases go unsolved! It's MINDBOGGLING!

I think eventually we're gonna need a subforum for this!
