    NJ - Ronaldo Blanco, 27, Summit, 19 Nov 2011

Ronaldo Blanco has been missing for two weeks and despite police-led bloodhound and helicopter searches, efforts to find him have turned up nothing.

To assist in the search, family and friends have posted flyers in Summit and Wharton asking for anyone with information on his wherabouts to call the police.

At least two of those flyers hang in Summit with a photo of Ronaldo Blanco. One on the door of a Union Place liquor store, and another on the window of a bus stop shelter on Broad Street.

    NJ - Ronaldo Blanco, 27, Summit, 19 Nov 2011

While I don't live there anymore, this is my hometown. I know the exact location. Initial news reports said "a skeleton" and it was later renamed as "human remains" leading to speculation in town that it might be more than one set of remains. After two days of setting up a crime scene and searching along with a few press releases, the local officials have stopped offering any news.

Based on the location within town, locals speculate that is might be a homeless person. NJ news stations are discussing the fact that the property was the site of a gunpowder manufacturing facility. I personally, don't think it has anything to do with Hercules. The place where the remains were located is and was a residential area within the Hercules complex. Quite a distance from any place where explosives were being manufactured.

    Initial reports say a "body":

The bones were discovered at the Hercules Chemical Company in Roxbury in November 2013.

The Morris County Prosecutor's Office says forensic scientists and a forensic odontologist have identified the person as 29-year-old Ronald Blanco of Wharton.

...took the job last week and stayed with a friend in nearby Dover while he worked on the job. Sometime between last Friday and Saturday friends lost contact with Ronald Blanco.
David, said in Spanish that he's been working with the Hispanic community in Summit to flyer around town. The image features his brother with several phone numbers.

When the friend was notified that Ronald did not appear on the job site the next day family and police were notified. Ronald left his cell phone and personal effects at the friend's home.

He was last seen at a friend’s home at 1:00 a.m. on 11/19/2011. He failed to respond to work the following morning in Landing NJ. Since 11/19/2011, there has been no cell phone or bank activity for Ronald Blanco. Ronald speaks some English but his main language is Spanish.
8/28/2014 Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp has issued the following statement:

“The human remains that were discovered at the Hercules Chemical Company in Roxbury, New Jersey on November 13, 2013 were examined by Forensic Scientists with the New Jersey State Police as well as a Forensic Odontologist. As a result of said examinations, the human remains were identified as those of Ronald Blanco, date of birth March 4, 1984 whose last known address was in Wharton, New Jersey. At this time, there is no indication of suspicious activity or trauma that would indicate that criminal activity resulted in the death of the decedent.”

I wonder what happened to this guy...

From the articles I've read, he wasn't said to have been depressed or drug addled or mentally ill. He looked pretty healthy too.
Why would someone (who's been working) suddenly stop going to work and drop off of the face of the Earth?

I hope they've looked into his mental state and whether he used drugs excessively. Otherwise, I don't see why they are discounting that some kind of crime happened.

While his hometown of Summit is a pretty nice area, there are some rough parts in Dover and Wharton. A lot of heavy drug use. The place he was found, Kenvil, is generally safe, but there are some "less than desirable" people attracted to the area because there are a few welfare hotels.

With that said, I also wonder what happened. Finding dead bodies is NOT an everyday occurrence in that part of NJ. I'll see if I can get any insights from the locals.

I'm not super familiar with the area. If he was truly last seen around 1:00 a.m. my hunch is that he and his buddies were drinking. If he walked to some unknown destination for some unknown reason, he may have fallen or something. I realize they said no apparent trauma but I assume that means no stab or bullet wounds on bones or no broken hyoid bone which is a sign of strangulation.

Human remains ID'd as Wharton man missing since 2011

Authorities say they have identified human remains found last fall in a wooded area off Route 46 in Roxbury as a Wharton man who went missing in November 2011.

In a statement released Thursday morning, Morris County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp said the remains were of Ronald Blanco.
