Wendell man still missing after Tuesday home invasion and kidnapping by 4 armed and masked men

The Gooding County sheriff said he believes an Idaho man who was kidnapped by four armed men has been taken out of state.

Sheriff Shaun Gough said interviews Thursday morning gave officers reason to believe Ramon Enrique Lizarroaga-Felix, 33, was taken across state lines by the men who abducted him from his residence southwest of Wendell early Tuesday.

Neighbors [snip] told The Times-News that the victim's wife knocked on their door at about 4 a.m. Tuesday seeking help. Her wrists were bound with duct tape and she said she had been hit on the head with a pistol.

The intruders broke windows and destroyed the screen door at the residence.

Alicia Torres told the newspaper she didn't believe the couple's two children were injured.

    Cheers and Jeers

JEERS to those writing off this week’s armed kidnapping of Gooding County resident Ramon Enrique Lizarraga-Felix, 33, simply because of his ethnicity.

Early Tuesday morning, four masked men reportedly broke into Lizarraga-Felix’s home, bound his wife and forcibly stole him away — already, he may have been taken out of the state.

Equally shocking is some public response to the kidnapping of a man whom authorities have not identified as having any significant criminal record or ties, nor as an illegal immigrant. For the record, during Lizarraga-Felix’s time in Idaho, court records only show a couple of convictions for lacking car insurance or a driver’s license — charges popular among legal Idaho residents.

Regardless of Lizarraga-Felix’s background or heritage, no one deserves to be carried off in the night from their own home by armed men. We hope his captors are found quickly, and that those willing to leave him to his fate learn to share that hope.

Family paid ransom to kidnappers to get father back

A Wendell man kidnapped from his home by four armed men two weeks ago, is back home with his family.

33-year-old Ramon Enrique Lizarraga-Felix arrived at a friend's house Monday. He appeared unharmed and in good spirits. The Gooding County Sheriff's Office said his family paid a ransom to his abductors.

The men who took Enrique demanded money from his family in exchange for his safe return. Police said, family members paid a ransom without telling authorities. The money was wired to a chain of banks located in Mexico.
