Authorities seek help identifying remains found near Argo

ST. CLAIR COUNTY — Authorities are asking for information from the public after human remains were discovered near Argo this week.

... found Wednesday afternoon in a wooded area near Hidden Valley Drive ...

[St. Clair County sheriff Terry] Surles said the remains most likely belong to a female with dark hair. He also said that authorities recovered an earring from the scene.

“It’s a large earring with butterflies that dangle,” he said. “That’s about all we’ve got to go on right now.”

... the person likely would have been missing “within the last 2-3 months.”

...

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the sheriff’s department at 205-884-6840, or 205-594-2140.

Could it be...

Eluid Ochoa: https://www.findthemissing.org/cases/12112

She was LKA in March of 2011 and missing from Bessemer, AL which is located 38 miles SW of Argo, AL. She has dark hair. She was 13 years old when she went missing.

Another possibility:

Anita Dobbs: https://www.findthemissing.org/cases/7359/5/

She was LKA in January of 2010 and is missing from Birmingham, AL - only 22.4 miles SW of Argo, AL. She is African-American and was 47 years old when she went missing. She is wearing earrings in her profile photograph but they don't appear to be dangling butterflies.

I'm sure if more information is released about this UID there will be more to go on.

Inv. Sweat said some surveyors were surveying a lot next to the area where the skeletal remains were located. The workers notice what looked like bones and upon further examination discovered the bones appeared to be human. The workers called 911 and St. Clair County SO came to the scene. The remains were determined to be human and Mark Hopwood of the Calhoun-Cleburne Task Force came and processed the scene.

Along with the remains investigators found what appeared to be a woman's skirt, along with a watch and earring.

At this time there are no definitive leads as to the sex or race of the remains other than the clothing. Inv. Sweatt said there also no missing person's cases from the local or surrounding area.

Here are some possibles....

Felicia Cochran, missing 1992 from Pell City, St. Clair County, AL
https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/2352/9

Kelley Howard, missing 2009 from Riverside, St. Clair County, AL
https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/4755/57

Not really sure why they said there were no local missing persons. Seems like Kelley Howard, who went missing 10 minutes away from where Jane Doe was found would be a likely possibility.

I believe this is the same case as the one located at the link below?

He said skeletal remains were found in a wooded area at the end of Hidden Valley Drive. He said the location where the body was found has an Odenville address but the location is actually in the Argo area.

Thanks CarlK!

I feel like a donkey ;) I honestly did search the forums before starting a new thread.

I am a bit confused why they think the UID had only been in the location for a few months. It looks like, from NAMUS profile, that the remains were fully skeletonized and even scattered.
