Oh no! :(

Well, it was offshore and there's no tsunami warning right now.

The thing is, there are going to be aftershocks probably.

The quake struck at 2:28pm (0528 GMT), the agency said. Its epicentre was located near Torishima, an island about 560 kilometres (350 miles) south of Tokyo. It was about 370 kilometres (230 miles) deep.
The mid-afternoon quake swayed buildings in Tokyo but it did not disrupt the final of the Emperor's Cup football tournament under way at the National Stadium.

Dear God please be with these precious people. They have had enough pain to last them more than a lifetime.

oh! no! Prayers to all. This will be a devastating blow to Japan.

The quake struck near the uninhabited island of Torishima in the Pacific Ocean, about 600 kilometers (370 miles) south of Tokyo, and its epicenter was about 370 kilometers (230 miles) below the sea, the Meterological Agency said. It did not generate a tsunami.

Buildings in the Tokyo area shook, but no damage or injuries were reported. Express trains in northern and central Japan were suspended temporarily for safety checks but later resumed.

No abnormalities were reported at power plants, including the crippled nuclear power plant in northeast Japan hit by the March earthquake and tsunami, public broadcaster NHK reported.

7.0 sea quake shakes Tokyo, but causes no damage

Hi Peeples and Everyone, I can't find a link yet but a news email I got from the Tacoma Tribune says debris from the Japanese Tsunami has started washing up on Vancouver Island.

Not good but we knew it was expected. I suppose it will warrant a new thread. I'll be gone all day tomorrow so anyone who wants to follow up, go for it.

Sorry, the news is 3 days old, just didn't see a thread for it here:

Glad to hear there was no damage, we have friends who are there right now visiting family...

I just watched a documentary on the earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan back in March of 2011. I didn't realize the magnitude of it all. Entire cities were just washed away. The people immediately got to work. Within 3 days they had rebuilt an entire roadway. They plan on rebuilding right where the fault line is. They believe that destruction is a sign that change needs to happen.
