CADDO PARISH, LA (KSLA) -

Caddo Coroner Dr. Todd Thoma confirms that human skeletal remains have been found in a pecan orchard off of East Flournoy Lucas and Highway 1 in Caddo Parish.

Dr. Thoma confirms the bones are human, and that they are scattered. It appears they've been out there for several years, and it's not immediately clear whether they belong to a man or a woman. The discovery was made on private property, in a field behind a pecan orchard.

OMG. This is a stone's throw from my house. I hadn't heard this but I honestly haven't had the local news on in days!

In addition to Clinton Nelson, another man and a woman have been missing from the Shreveport/Bossier City area for awhile.

Darrell Mack Wells, December 26, 2001. His car was found about eight miles from the recovery site on Westgate Drive.

Penny Madanat, October 26, 1991. She was last seen about 12 miles from the remains site in a restaurant on or near Gould Dr. where she asked for change to use a pay phone. She had been riding in her husband's car and told him to let her out following an argument.

A driver's license and credit card were found with the body.

Caddo coroner Dr. Todd Thoma confirms that evidence includes a driver's license and credit card, along with an article of clothing. The name was run through the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database, and Dr. Thoma confirms it does match the name of a young white male missing out of Shreveport since March of 2005.

I contacted and went over to his father's house, and his father identified the clothing that we found at the scene," Thoma said. "But all of this is circumstantial evidence. I feel as though that is probably who we are dealing with, but Mary Manhein took the skull and bones back to her lab, and she's going to pull DNA. I'm going to have the missing person's family come to my office, and we're going to obtain DNA and send that for comparison.
