According to court statements, Mr. King had a history of abuse to his son, dating back to Nov. 16. “The defendant knowingly inflicted cruel and inhuman punishment upon (Jeremiah) by striking the child with such repetition and force as to leave bruises and abrasions on said child,” court documents stated. Following Jeremiah’s death, officials allege Mr. King knowingly set fire to the mobile home in which he and Jeremiah lived, located six miles north of Bethany on State Route W.

I agree, his picture brought tears to my eyes.

There is a comment under the article that says the mother is in jail. I just looked her up on Casenet and she has a bunch of listings for her but I can't see that she was in jail. She filed for an RO against the father the day after the fire.

It also looks like the mom, the dad, and another man were being taken to court by the State of Missouri Family Support Division and another woman. It looks to be a custody suit. Maybe someone else can read it and make better sense of it. If you search under the mother's name (Mira Huffman) you can find it or the number is 09GE-CV00048-01.
