More victims accuse doctor of sex abuse
January 4, 2012

"New details are emerging about the Oregon doctor accused of molesting his patients while they were sedated for surgery. Anesthesiologist Dr. Frederick Field was arrested in July and charged with sex abuse. At that time, there were two accusers, and now he is indicted for allegedly molesting 12 women at Mid-Columbia Medical Center in The Dalles...."

and

"...part of the discovery process that shows concerns about Field years ago. The paperwork shows a female patient complained to the hospital in 2008 when she said Field fondled her and put her hand on his genitals while she was waking up from sedation. The document showed the hospital found no reason to believe the complaint...."

and

"....Field is out of custody on bail, but his medical license has been suspended pending the outcome of the case against him."

IMO, Dr. "Smith" doesn't seem to realize just how fast offenders can be.

Field is/was licensed in both California and Oregon. I'm pleased, though, that sanction and board action history are noted on this site:

http://www.healthgrades.com/physician/dr-frederick-field-38phn

If you click on "sanction history", the letter of suspension from CA is displayed, dated September 1, 2011.

If you click on "board action history", an OR Stipulated Order is displayed.

Also, looks like Field has a well known defense attorney, Stephen Houze. Same attorney who represents Terri Horman, I believe.

From July 2013:

http://www.oregonlive.com/news/oreg...sf/2013/07/steve_duin_a_sick_operator_in.html

Last September, Field -- ably represented by defense attorney Steve Houze --was sentenced to 23 years in prison after pleading guilty to 11 counts of first-degree sex abuse and one count of first-degree rape in Wasco County.

And last week, the plot thickened as seven of the abused women... continued to press their case that Mid-Columbia Medical Center was negligent in not responding more aggressively to early reports of Field's depravity...

According to a Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services' report and notes taken by Mid-Columbia's director of surgical services, Field's sexual aggressiveness was so legend that the call nurses made "a safety pact never to leave any staff member alone" with him.
