A skull that was found in Oak Lake Park over the weekend was determined to be that of a human, authorities said Monday. And its discovery has prompted a probe into whose remains ended up in the water near North 56th Avenue and Douglas Street.

The skull was discovered by Nicholas Vargas and Matthew Fischer, both 15, around 5:30 p.m. Saturday, police said.

They wanted to go swimming in the lake and tried to pull a shopping cart out of the water, Vargas said.

"I just found a vase [inside the cart] and I just dumped it out and I found the skull," he said.

Judging from the small size of the skull, Vargas thinks it was a child, he said.

"Somebody who doesn't care about kids just killed him and threw them in the lake," he said. "It's messed up how they can do that to a young kid."

We shouldn't presume that this is a child's skull until the authorities say so. I've seen speculation of this nature before that turned out not to be true from people who have found remains.

The only child on my list from Hollywood FL is Pilar Sophia Rodriguez

However, the narrative indicates that she was probably disposed of in a different county.

Very good pic of skull at link. I would love someone with expert eyes to look at it and share their thoughts! Ahhheeeemmmmm Carl!! :innocent:

I am by no stretch of the imagination an expert. But the orbits and nasal aperture do look quite large in proportion to the rest of the skull, which would seem to suggest that it might be a child. This is an un-expert opinion, but the wide nasal aperture and the rectangular orbits would seem to suggest that it is of a black person.

how far would this be from where that little boy Aji went missing from? i know i spelled his name wrong, sorry.

Thanks Carl! I understand this is not your particular field of expertise, but you certainly have my respect as a self taught expert! :applause: Hope you know how appreciated you are on the UID forum!
That being said...I will put out there

Another area in Florida. WINTER GARDEN, Fla. -
Three partial human skulls were uncovered Monday near a Winter Garden subdivision, police said.

Wow. Seems like a wave of remains being found. I will try to start a thread for these.

I think this is up to 5 skulls now:

WINTER GARDEN, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Three human skulls were found buried in the back yard of a new Winter Garden home. According to police, a plumber digging in efforts to put pool pipes in discovered the first skull. Crime scene technicians and archeologists showed up and found two more.

I read it that the plumber found one and then the CSI's found 2 more equaling 3.

It almost like these skeletons have said enough!! we want to be found NOW!

Well, the divers apparently found a safe also, so obviously that water is def a dumping area. Seems like an area that is accessible and concealed. jmo

Over 2 months now. I guess no missing persons are a match yet.

I know it is a long time ago and quite some distance, but maybe that poor little headless girl found in Missouri (but suspected to be from out of state) in 1983. The 80s sure had a lot of large ugly vases. I'd like it to be her. Some isotope testing and a reconstruction could mean so much to making progress on a case like that.
