FL. – Aileen Wuornos, the first woman ever to fit the FBI profile of a serial killer. Was Wuornos insane? Were any of the murders in self defense? I saw a documentary on her the other day and I believe she was definitely mentally ill. There was a lot of behavior she displayed that made me question whether maybe she should have gotten life instead of death.

From what I read about her, she definately wasn't insane, just an antisocial personality. She could manipulate a situation to meet her needs. Myra Hindley, partner of Ian Brady of the Moors Murders is a good example.

She played innocent until it no longer suited the situation. Once the situation created itself when Brady started to tell about the murders of the last tow children, she got the jump on Brady and gave the information first to increase her chances of parole. Neither women were insane, just slick.

FLORIDA v. AILEEN WUORNOS
In January 1992, sex worker and serial killer Aileen Wuornos stood trial for the murder of 52-year-old Richard Mallory. At the time of her trial, she had confessed to murdering seven men who had picked her up while hitchhiking. She claimed the murders were in self-defense. Although she was tried for Mallory’s murder, evidence from the six other slayings was used to prosecute Wuornos. On Jan. 27, she was found guilty of first-degree murder. Four days later, she was sentenced to death. Wuornos was executed in Oct. 2002. One year later, the movie ‘Monster’ starring Charlize Theron was released, which depicted Wuornos’s crimes.

Aileen Carol Wuornos #805
In my opinion she should not have been executed. It's very sad.

I agree. She was a victim of her upbringing. She should’ve gotten life w/o parole.

It's true that Aileen never had a chance and I do have sympathy for her but I have much more for the families she left shattered by her actions. Try to imagine how they would have felt knowing that she would've been able to make a life for herself behind bars even with a life w/o parole sentence. They will suffer their losses and mourn their loved ones till the day they die. Florida got it right this time. My opinion of course.

Though she had an extremely horrible childhood, rife with physical psychological and sexual abuse , she was not insane, and knew right from wrong.

Though I feel for anyone who endured such abuse as a child, theres little doubt she would've killed more victims

A horrid upbringing, does not pre-dispose one to a series of murders and though it shines light on the why, it certainly doesnt excuse it

I felt her sentence was just
