OHSU Doernbecher Hospital has an exceptional reputation here in the Northwest. In looking over this article, it certainly seems as if they have responded appropriately to this man's sick actions. It's awfully scary to think that he was working with children in the ICU...where children are extremely vulnerable.

Let's keep our fingers crossed.

February 17, 2012

"A 43-year-old man who worked as a pediatric intensive care nurse at OHSU Doernbecher Children's Hospital faces child *advertiser censored* charges. Federal officials arrested Bryan Whitney Corbitt on Thursday night at his home in Washougal following a months-long investigation triggered by Corbitt's alleged screen name: "Kidluver." Officials traced the name, linked to the sharing of child *advertiser censored* through peer-to-peer software, to Corbitt's home...."

and

"...OHSU conducted an internal investigation, checking all the computers that Corbitt had access to. Officials discovered he had sent four photos from a patient's family to his private email account. The photos were not sexual in nature but emailing photos of patients without authorization or for any reason outside an employee's job violates OHSU policy...."

and

"....Corbitt passed an extensive background check when he was hired by OHSU on Nov. 5, 2001. He initially worked in ER but on July 15, 2002, transferred to the pediatric intensive care unit. Before the transfer, he passed a second criminal check...."

and

"...Corbitt resigned Feb. 10. On Friday, OHSU sent 10,000 letters to families of patients who may have had contact with Corbitt, alerting them to the investigation and his arrest...."

and

"....Undercover agents with Homeland Security Investigations -- which is mandated to protect children from predators -- started tracking his online moves last November, when the name "Kidluver" popped up on their radar...."

That judge should be ashamed of himself. No bail for this perp is outrageous!

I can't find the rationale behind his release--as if there could be one. He's not considered a flight risk? The children he might have photographed locally and their families are not in danger?

From May 2013:
