Details of Disappearance

Donna was a resident of Crocker, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis, in 1992. She was visiting her uncle in Belleville, Illinois at the time of her disappearance.

Donna was last seen walking along east Monroe Street near south Illinois Street in Belleville at approximately 1:30 a.m. on February 18, 1992. She had departed her brother's residence and was planning to meet her boyfriend, Jeffrie Mezo, at a nearby fast food restaurant at the time. Donna wanted a short visit with him before her brother drove her back to Missouri. She never arrived at her destination and has not been heard from again. She left behind her personal belongings.

After Donna's disappearance, several people claimed to have seen her in the Fenton, Missouri area, but these sightings were not confirmed. Jeffrie, who was the father of her unborn child and not a blood relative of Donna's, was questioned by police about her disappearance and took a lie-detector test. He was found shot to death in South Side Park near his Belleville home, four months after Donna's disappearance. A note was found which indicated suicide, but the gun that killed Jeffrie was found in a nearby lake. It is unclear if his death is related to Donna's case.

Donna left all her personal belongings behind when she vanished. Her case remains unsolved.

I did a search on her name on Zabasearch and there was a Donna J Mezo, aged 36 listed in Crocker, MO with a Edward Mezo, aged 42 listed as an relative. Interesting.

If you read the comments, you'll find there are few people who think she's alive. Wouldn't that be great?

Donna, 16, was last seen near a fast-food restaurant in Belleville. Her boyfriend was questioned by police and took a lie-detector test but was himself found dead a few months later. A suicide note was found with the body, but the gun he’d been shot with was in a nearby lake. Call Belleville police, 618-234-1212, with information.

There seems to be a shocking lack of information about Jefferie Mezo’s apparent homicide. Suicide by appearance, suicide note, assuming single shot. Gun used found in nearby body of water. I’m not a doctor, but seems like he wouldn’t have bothered to toss the gun after he killed himself. Assuming zombies aren’t real and if you can eliminate any other possible, yet definitively strange scenarios it seems to be homicide. Plus a mere 4 months since Donna’s disappearance seems to indicate the cases are indelibly linked.

Surprised to not see this mentioned anywhere:
"A caller who identified herself as Donna Mezo left a message on a telephone recorder at the home of a woman in Cahokia"

the way her boyfriend's death is described is suspicious. He dies from a gunshot. OK. She later finds a suicide-like note. OK. The weapon used is later found in a lake. That? Are you not sure if the death is related?

First, it's obvious that her death is related. If this was a suicide (which the descriptions go out of their way NOT to say happened, although they also don't indicate otherwise), the proximity to Donna's disappearance makes this likely caused by guilt... for not protecting her, at the very least. ..If he was killed, it was clearly staged to look like a suicide, and as close as it was to Donna's disappearance, it seems like this would be connected by observers...

I want to know what the supposed suicide note said, which was intentionally omitted. What are the chances that the same culprit behind Donna's disappearance will take down her boyfriend? That might be more likely if one or both of them knew the culprit...
either way
rest in peace
