In August 2001, state police told the media that they plan to question a former friend and neighbor of the McNatt family. Toni's family believes she wouldn't have just gone with someone without putting up a fight. Whoever it was, it was somebody she trusted.

Probably was this scumbag neighbor (i know, innocent until proven guilty, but we all know what sex offenders are capable of).

Isn't it sad and scarey that usually the answers in these cases are REALLY close by. It's likely the family still sees this guy from time to time (unless, of course, he moved away afterward).

Does anyone see any similarities in this victim's description and descriptions of other girls missing from PA around 1974 - 1977?

I still believe that the neighbor who lived nearby killed her. She didnt make it to the school, and that was on her way there. She wasnt running away, so its either a case of the step parent, or the neighbor, and I go for the neighbor!

Bumping for Toni. Her story was featured on the front page of today's Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:

After reading that article from the Post-Gazette, the now-deceased father/stepfather(?), Sam Chiapetta, seems extremely suspicious. Perhaps authorities should dig up the cement porch at the duplex where Toni's family had lived.

"Many things about the case, and Chiapetta's possible role in it, continued to trouble the detective. Shortly after Toni's disappearance, Chiapetta -- never one for home improvements -- replaced the duplex's wooden back porch with a cement one. Toni's older sister, Ms. Paolicelli, told Mr. Scully that she woke to find her father touching her sexually one day, a few months after her sister's disappearance."

I think it's either the neighbor or step-father that killed her. LE should investigate the replaced porch. I would consider both of them suspects in this case. Which one did this? I think it's a 50/50 shot for either person. What a terrible situation for this poor family!

I agree. The article in the Post-Gazette focused on the father and very little on the neighbor. His story may have been similar (or worse)...or more than one person may have known what happened to Toni.
