State vs. Jason Lynn Young 2-24-2012

<modsnip>

Did you see the water running from that hose, apparently for 11 hours?
By the time CCBI tested for blood in that location days later, any trace was diluted and long gone.

Dilute blood? Blood coagulates and has significant portions that are water insoluble. (meaning you can rinse with water all you like, but portions will remain solid.) These solids would be available somewhere close to surface layer of grass/dirt.

Does anybody know what the plywood in the courtroom is for? I may have missed it somewhere along the way... TIA!

A show & tell poster was attached to the side you don't see, ncmom, fairly early in the State's case -- I can't even remember what it was -- but it was nothing really earth-moving. (Sorry to be so vague...)

It was to show where prints, etc were found around the closet. IIRC.

(Thanks for the thread :) )

dmaxphil,

Neither of us are soil experts, so I also have an opinion.
Water running for 11+ hours into the grass would cause any blood to dissipate...especially if a presumptive blood test was done days later .

You do know it rained 2.4" on Tuesday 11-7-06?

Before the last thread closed, someone brought up the lack of blood.
I have often thought that perhaps JY cleaned up in the toilet, rinsed off gloves etc. instead of sink.
Just a thought..a gross one however. Sorry for those eating breakfast!

It would seem the hose was turned on and left on by somebody for a reason.

If that reason was to obscure evidence, it apparently was successful.

Did LE try to obtain evidence of blood at the site of hose?

I don't recall the actual testimony, but CCBI did test at some point in the 11 days they had the house secured....that is also when they found CY's DNA on the outside water spicket....hmmm

Think it is the under side of the tables they are going to put evidence on for the jurors to view today.

:seeya: What time is court in session?

I'll be able to watch most of it today!

Agree to disagree then. If blood was in that water, ever, traces would be contained close to the surface.

The rest of your theory re: upstairs activity makes sense IMO. I think it's more likely that JY simply left hose running after doing yard work. OR, if cleaning took place outside, JY (or cleaner of CY) sprayed washcloth/towel with hose water then possibly placed CY in or over a trash bag while wiping her down.

I'm here for the day, yay! I will be looking for what the defense does today when the prosecution rests. Will they, or won't they, put on a defense?

DH is hauling me along on a business trip tomorrow. The hotel where we are staying (in a casino... he traded his boss free hotel for a car over the weekend) charges $10.99 a day for wi-fi. They don't want peeps stuck on their computers! I told DH it would be a grand savings since the hours I watch the trial will save him a ton of money I could end up spending in the casino. LOL!

But Carolina - you will have 2 days to visit the Casino - Saturday & Sunday! No Court!

Not after a 2" rainfall....just say'n

LOL. No I was not aware of the rain however, it does not make a difference. We are still talking about blood and water. The blood would still be present in the soil somewhere near the surface.

I would think the defense would still put on witnesses who would testify about what they observed at the Young's residence that night and the early morning hours.

Also, I'm dying to know if they will enter the same stipulation with the state again that consisted of an affidavit of what she saw from an elderly neighbor lady. I was told by those in the courtroom that it was read to the jury last time, but WRAL did not record it. Odd IMO, but I really do want to know the details.
