Detectives say Olsen wasn't reported missing until the following Tuesday, five days after see disappeared. Investigators have been talking to Olsen's friends and family, and have even been using a bloodhound to try and find her but so far, with no luck.
Police have been searching since Tuesday for Olsen, several days after she was last seen. On Friday investigators used a bloodhound to help them search and it took them from her home on Vine Street toward the Chippewa River.
"We cannot say for certain that's where she is that's the area the bloodhound lost its tack and lost its interest,” says Detective Sergeant Derek Thomas with the Eau Claire Police Department.
He says unfortunately the part of the river in that area couldn't be searched by the fire department.
"Right now we're exploring options with the fire department on how we can check that river area. It's just south of the dam and it's a difficult spot to launch a boat but we're still exploring those options," says Thomas.
He says Olsen has a history of leaving for days at a time.
"We've had information from family members that she has had a history of leaving for 3-4 days. On this particular day she left behind items that she hasn't left behind in the past," says Thomas.
He says those items include her cell phone and purse. Now officers are asking anyone to let them know if they see her.
"We just want to make sure she's ok we want to check her safety," says Thomas.
