I didn't realize initially that this was Oklahoma. Of course it is $#@%# Oklahoma. :banghead:
(I am not 100% sure they are spelling her last name correctly... just FYI for sleuthing purposes.)

A preliminary autopsy shows Warmberodt died of a homicide.

Dewey Baby's Home Checked By DHS 6 Months Before Her Death

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and Dewey Police
are investigating how a 15-month-old baby girl died.
Officers say Emma Beth Warmberodt was dead when paramedics arrived at her home.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

She had trauma to the chest, bruises on her head and showed signs of child abuse.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

He says at the time, DHS found nothing that would cause authorities to worry Emma's life was in danger, so his office was not notified.

The article says that little Emma lived there with an elderly woman and 3 couples.

Were one of the couples her parents?

It also says that when they were called there 6 months ago it was unrelated to Emma.

I hope we get some more info soon.

This article answers one of of my questions.

OSBI agents said they conducted a crime scene investigation of the home where the child and her parents lived and interviewed those who occupied the home at the time of her death.

This article says she was living in the house with 10 adults! Also, that there was a small amount of drugs found in the home.

t wasn't the first time authorities had to worry about little Emma Beth. The Department of Human Services checked on baby Emma about six months ago.

No charges were filed, and she was not removed from the home.

And this from neighbor

Next door neighbor Cheryl Johnson says there were always people and kids coming in and out of the house.

More on dhs visit

The Washington County District Attorney couldn't tell us why DHS checked on the home, but says the visit was not related to what happened to Emma. He says at the time, DHS found nothing that would cause authorities to worry Emma's life was in danger, so his office was not notified.

Confusing, but it appears the call was about Emma, based off the first snip, but there is deflecting with the bbm sentence. Thats my take. Obviously the call six months ago was not about whatever happened ths week to cause her death, duh. That statement is nonsensical imo.

Exactly... the call 6 months ago WAS about Emma... it just apparently didn't allege chest trauma and head injuries??
Or whatever her cause of death was.

The ME says Warmberodt had trauma to the chest and multiple bruises to her head.

Dewey Police were called to a home in the 300 block of Cherokee at about 2:30 p.m. Officers found Emma Beth Warmberodt on the porch with no pulse.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Dewey Police Chief Mike Shea says a newborn baby--possibly just two weeks old--was also in the house when the little girl died.

The OSBI says Warmberodt died of blunt force trauma.

OSBI agents interviewed the girl's parents and others who occupied the home at the time of death.

OSBI officials say they are working to get the town's questions answered and say they have some strong leads in the case. :what:

Multiple agencies investigating child’s homicide; police chief clarifies some facts

Dewey police officials say the investigation into the death of a 15-month-old girl last week is still ongoing.

“There are still a lot of people from multiple agencies that are very involved in this case,” Dewey Police Department Chief Mike Shea told the Examiner-Enterprise on Tuesday. “We want to be as thorough as possible.”

Shea said there were around 10 people living in the home at the time of the child’s death.

He said there had been blunt trauma involved but that he did not know if it had been ruled the actual cause of death.

“I think I can clear a lot of this up in the next day or two but this is still an ongoing investigation,” Shea said. “Everyone involved is trying to be as thorough as possible.”

Calls to OSBI spokesperson Jessica Brown and State Medical Examiner’s Office Public Information Officer Amy Elliott were not immediately returned.

“There’s nothing new in that case,” Shea said.

-----------------------------

“We’re still diligently working on it.”

Dewey Police say there were ten adults inside the house at the time, but no one is talking.

No one is talking? :waitasec:
Really? :what:

That's strange. I totally expected someone to come in and say "Dude, officer... I'm totally the one who did it..."

Oklahoma makes me scream. :banghead:

Unfortunately, Oklahoma isn't the only place children are abused and murdered by evil people that don't deserve to have children. Some of us live and work here because we feel we can make a small difference.

The first call to DHS might not have been about Emma.

If one of the other adults that lived there had a child that had a DHS referral made, DHS would come in, in relation to that child, and the case would be about that child. Not Emma. If DHS had seen anything that was dangerous to the kids in the home, any of them, including Emma, they wouldn't have been able to ignore that, and they would have had to check on food and see the bedrooms of all the children that lived in the home, including Emma. But, if the referral was not about her specifically, they would not have been able to go as in depth with Emma's parents, or do much digging in regards to her, as she was not the child that was referred.

To me, it sounds like they are saying they were there about another kid, but Emma was looked at, her sleeping arrangements were checked, and there was no obvious sign of physical abuse to Emma at that point. When they are there about one child, DHS is surprisingly limited in what they can do in relation to other kids that live in the house.

Dewey police and other first responders arriving to the scene due to a call reporting an unresponsive child found the Warmberodt with bruises to her head and chest and blood in her nasal cavity and mouth.

Emergency crews were not able to open the child's mouth when trying to resuscitate the child, possibly due to rigor mortis in the jaw.
The child, it appeared, had been dead for some time,
according to the affidavit.

State prosecutors filed charges Wednesday against three individuals believed to have played roles in the death of a Dewey toddler last month.

-------------------------------------

Mitchell and Williams are being held on $500,000 bonds,
and Fitch, on a $250,000 bond.

I hate to say it, but I am astounded OSBI managed to pull off an arrest in a case. I hope they can see this through and give the prosecutor adequate evidence to prosecute the case. Oklahoma just has an appalling record for arrests and prosecutions of murderers.

A Washington County District Court judge on Tuesday appointed attorneys for three Dewey residents charged in the homicide death of a toddler in January.

-----------------------

Reportedly, they found the child with bruises to her head and chest as well as blood in her mouth and nose.
They also found she may have been dead for some time
as her body was already stiffening.

Maybe they were just waking up and found her dead... 2:30pm... slept in because Emma wasn't there to wake them up. :banghead:

Thank you, bad things happen everywhere. Oklahoma is my home state, I love it there and I hope to be back there later in life. Having lived in the Sierras, the Glass Mountains aren't that mountainous ;) but it's still a beautiful state. GREAT license plate.

I hope that the three who harmed and neglected this baby are brought to full justice for her murder.

February 2013:

A Dewey man accused of murdering his 15-month-old stepchild has been found guilty.

Prosecutors say Marcus Mitchell beat his stepdaughter, Emma Beth Warmbrodt, to death at their home in Dewey in February 2012.

Feb 2013:

Juanchellee Fitch received a suspended sentence for her role in Emma Beth Warmbrodt's death...

According to testimony from investigators, the toddler suffered severe injuries and was covered with bruises, and they described the home the child lived in as "filthy."

Fitch was given a 15-year suspended sentenced for child neglect and a year in county jail for being an accessory after the fact...

Fitch was released after her sentencing. She received credit for time served -- 337 days in jail, according to the court clerk's office -- and was released early for good behavior.
