Details: Rachel Runyon was a beautiful three-year-old girl from Sunset, Utah. She was abducted from the city playground near her home in August 26, 1982 by a black man who drove away in blue midsize car. Twenty-four days later, her body was found dumped in a creek off of a dirt road in Morgan County.
Her murder remains unsolvedThere is a $53,000 reward leading to the arrest and conviction of Rachael Runyon's killer.
Could the arrest of a man in Pennsylvania who was the subject of an Amber Alert provide any clues into a nearly 30-year-old cold case in Utah?
No one has ever been arrested in connection to the killing. Rachael's mother, Elaine Runyan-Simmons, has been an active advocate of finding missing children since her daughter's kidnapping.
Utah's Amber Alert system was still called the "Rachael Alert" — in honor of Runyan-Simmons' daughterRunyan-Simmons said Monday she was waiting to hear from local investigators whether it was indeed the same man who was a suspect in her case.
Thanks for starting a thread for Rachael Cocomod.
Here's another link but it looks like matches exactly to yours above just a different MSM source.. Going to put it here anyway.
It has been 30 years. I wish there could be justice for precious Rachael.
I hope they find who murdered her soon. It breaks my heart to think of what she went thru and what her Mother continues to go thru.
Any DNA in her case? It really scares me to know that there are monsters like this among us. I have always been aware of it, but never more so since the birth of my own 2 year old Daughter. Anybody know the real name of this suspect that was arrested in PA with possible ties to the Runyan case? PM me if so, thanks
I have never heard of any DNA on her case. There are some old newspaper articles on the case. But, they are on one of those archive sites that you have to pay for to copy the articles. There is also a suspect sketch on some not so reliable websites.
I think I can add this link. It is from the Deseret News in September 1982.
