    http://www.news10.net/news/article/1...ile?hpt=us_bn7

The mother of an eighth grader found dead at a Rosemont park Tuesday morning says those behind her daughter's death may involve "at least one girlfriend."

The victim, 13-year-old Jessica Funk-Haslam, was discovered by a woman walking in Rosemont Community Park about 6:30 a.m. The body was in the dugout of a softball field.

Looking at her picture is heartbreaking. What a beautiful young girl.

It seems like there was a lot of confusion surrounding the issue of her being reported missing or not. I think it might be one of those times where mom thought she was with dad and he thought she was with mom. Devastating situation.

I'm not so sure about that. Dad says he talked to her on the phone that evening. Idk. . I'm feeling hinky about this but I'll leave it at that until we know more. Really tragic. . .a beautiful young girl.

I hate being so cynical, but she and her mom had an argument that night.

According to one witness, two people were seen near the park between 11pm and 12.30am on the night she disappeared.

They had parked a vehicle in a parking lot near Jessica's school and then sat on bleachers nearby, according to www.news10.net.

Another witness, Justin Gray, who lives near Rosemont Park, says he heard a male and a young girl talking there at around 2.30am on Tuesday morning, but couldn't make out anyone in the dark.

Was anyone looking for her when she didn't come home that night? Did anyone report her missing and start searching when she never returned ?

Things must have been pretty bad at home if Jessica's father wanted to move her in with him. Which I take it he does not live in the same town as where Jessica and her mother did.

I think there is a lot to the story we are not hearing from her mother.

Jessica's father, Allen Porter, said he spoke to his daughter on the phone about 6pm on Monday - half an hour after the argument with her mother.

'She wanted to move here and I was trying to set it up so she could,' he told www.news10.net.

He added: 'I don't know why anybody would do this. I just want to know why.

If it was Jessica talking to this male at 2:30 AM from what the witness has reported I would think it would either be Jessica's mothers husband or boyfriend trying to get her to come home or a complete stranger.

If a complete male stranger killed her I would think a sexual assault would have taken place.

Knowing if her body was dumped in the dug out or if she was murdered there where she was found would tell us a lot. Also if she was sexually assaulted would tell us a lot also if you KWIM.

Beaten in the head, stabbed and strangled seems like a bit of an overkill for just silencing a rape victim if this was a sexually motivated crime. The combination of injuries suggest this murder was committed by more than one person.

    this is just hinky....

If the girl was close enough for a guy to hear her just talking to someone surely between being strangled hit on the head and stuff at least 1 scream should have been heard....

it doesn't add up for me.....

So at what time that night did mom figure out she was missing? Did she go out and search? Did she call her friends or LE?

Sadly, as a local to this story, I'd say she probably "ran away" to the dugout near her school, where she attended the practices and games, where she knew the people occupying the homes nearby... In other words, she probably had a false sense of security being concealed on familiar stomping grounds.

Unfortunately, spring is a time of year that young gang members are "jumped in" by doing this kind of random crime on a vulnerable person.

I hope they catch whomever is responsible. I also wonder if Jessica used a cell phone to talk/text away her loneliness that night? There could be some solid information in the form of text messages, I hope so.

RIP, Jessica-- I'm sorry you were let down.

--or the male / young female the guy heard darking in the dark were the 2 ( or 2 of many ) who had just killed her.

--in the 1st article posted her mom mentioned that another girl might be involved.
