A 42-year-old man whose attempted-rape case was dismissed in November is accused of sexually assaulting and killing another woman less than three weeks later.

James Wesley Jackson was arrested by fugitive officers at his home Tuesday on a capital murder warrant in the death of 59-year-old Jo Beth Marchand, whose body was found Dec. 2 inside a closet in her apartment.

James Wesley Brooks Jackson, whose fingerprints and DNA were found by police inside Marchand’s apartment, was convicted March 1 of capital murder in the case. Because prosecutors did not seek the death penalty, he was automatically sentenced to life in prison without parole.
