Kenny Sanchez, 26, and Kathleen Sanchez, 21, are both charged with felony child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury

An off-duty law enforcement officer reported his concerns after seeing the family in a store.

Sanchez and her husband were unemployed when the crime allegedly occurred. A family member tells FOX31 Denver the child was unwanted, which is why the couple abused this child and not their other two children.

That's what we used to call a 'targeted child situation'....where one child is singled out for abuse or neglect for no real reason.

Thank goodness for an alert off duty police officer.

The mom and dad accused of starving a 3-year-old to the point where doctors were worried her organs could be permanently damaged or she could die, are on the run...

Zoey's parents have a nationwide warrant out for their arrest. Kenny and Kathleen Sanchez were first arrested in February 2012 and pleaded not guilty to child-abuse charges. They were out on $50,000 bond in each case and made their court appearances until a pretrial conference in July 2013.

All three of the couples' children were removed from their care. Now-5-year-old Zoey and her now-2-year-old sister Madison were adopted together at a Denver Adoption Dayevent in May by the Arellano family. Their brother was adopted by extended family members.

December 2014:

captured in Alabama. They now have two more children, according to neighbors in Alabama.

[Neighbours] said the Sanchezs went by different names, Faye and Wesley Romero.
From their new mugshots, it is evident they changed how they looked.

The Foley Police Department is only able to confirm that two small children were found in the home with the Sanchez couple. Both children were taken into the custody of Department of Human Resources.

Neighbors say the kids are a 1-year-old boy and a newborn girl.

Bless her adoptive parents and thank God this couple was found and the two other children removed.
