This crime is local to me in Bucks County, just north of Philadelphia. The victim Danny DeGennaro was found dead in his home last week from a single gun shot wound to his chest. No suspects.....ruled a homicide.

I was not familiar with his music but apparently he was quite legendary playing with the likes of the Grateful Dead, Clarence Clemons, Billy Squier and Bo Diddly.

DeGennaro played guitar with national acts such as Kingfish, which included members of the Grateful Dead, as well as Clarence Clemons from the E Street Band, Bo Diddley and Billy Squier. He also headed his own band, the Danny DeGennaro Band.

...DeGennaro, also known as Dan Rio, had toured with Kingfish, a band that counted former Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir as a member. According to his website, DeGennaro had also performed with Clarence Clemons, saxophonist with the E Street Band, who died in June.

Bakr, 17, was charged with criminal conspiracy, criminal conspiracy to commit murder, criminal homicide, burglar, robbery and possession of an instrument of crime.

According to the affividavit of probable cause, four co-conspirators went to DeGennaro’s house the night of his murder to rob him. They were armed with a shotgun and handgun.

Bakr is being held without bail at the Bucks County Prison. She will be tried as an adult.

DeGennaro, 56, was shot once in the chest with a shotgun in his Crabtree Drive home on Dec. 28. He was found by a tenant who was living in the basement, who police have ruled out as a suspect.

Joe,

She's 17! I saw her perp walk on the news up at the Bristol Police Station and couldn't believe it. My mom was like "She's only 17?"

This poor man wasn't hurting a soul. His brother has been on the news ocassionally asking for help in finding the murderer. Here it's a lousey five "people"?

FWIW we were just up Levittown way today and it's changed big time.

Prayers for Mr. DeGenarro's family. So immensely senseless to murder this poor guy.

Good! The attorney for the one arrested talked about how his client didn't know the other's had a gun and never touched it. She just drove the get-away car.

Well, see that's a problem. You don't have to do the actual murder. When you're an accessory in committing a crime, you get charged the same as if YOU had pulled the trigger.

That's another problem. Yeah, she's young, but in MOST states that I'm aware of, if not all, you're involved in murder as a 17 yo, yeah you're a minor, but you can still be charged as an ADULT and spend years and years and years in jail. 17 year olds know the difference between right and wrong. Murder is murder, 17 or 70.

Thanks for the link JoeFromLB! Guess they can run, they can hide, but LE knows who they are.

FOUR people to rob one man. And for what? 'THEY THOUGHT he had money.'

JMHO

PS...ETA......oh, right! She didn't see a weapon? :liar: Sorry, but a shotgun doesn't fit up your sleeve. pffft.........fran

One of the suspects made a dumb mistake which led police right to them:

To draw DeGennaro out of his house and rob him, one of the suspects called the phone number on a "for sale" sign on a 2007 black Volkswagen Jetta parked in his back yard, Assistant District Attorney Matt Weintraub said.

But the car and the cellphone number belonged to a neighbor, Nick Wilson, who after the murder told police about the suspicious call, according to the affidavit of probable cause.

According to the affidavit and authorities:

The suspects drove two cars from Trenton and called Wilson and each other while in DeGennaro's neighborhood. Cellphone records led police to two suspects and then to Bakr, who waited in her 2002 green Lincoln while her co-conspirators entered DeGennaro's house.

After a preliminary hearing, the judge ruled the case could go to trial. The D.A. is seeking the death penalty against the three male defendants, although one of them may actually have been under 18 at the time of the killing, so not eligible for the DP. That issue has to be resolved. The two female suspects were both under 18 at the time of the crime, but will be tried as adults.

Tentative trial date of August 13, 2012. All five suspects are being held without bail.
