Found Deceased Canada - Vanessa Fotheringham, 24, London ON, 16 Feb 2012

"As the end of a full month of desperation, fear and the unknown nears, a close friend of Vanessa Fotheringham describes her disappearance as gut wrenching.

Fotheringham went missing Feb. 16 and hasn’t been heard from since.

Tuesday, police used an RCMP helicopter to search London’s east end and alerted residents to scour their properties for discarded clothes or anything that looks out of place.

They’ve now labelled the 24-year-old London woman’s disappearance suspicious."

Vanessa may have been the occupant of a grey, 2002 Saturn Vue, with black steel rims with no hubcaps.

The vehicle may have been driven on Dundas Street East, in the area of Wharncliffe Road North and Oxford Street West, and elsewhere in the city or outskirts on the evening of Feb. 16 or early morning hours of Feb. 17.

Police are still looking for that vehicle.

Atchison, who lives in Forest, said she received a text message from Vanessa the night she disappeared asking if Atchison or her friend were interested in buying one of Vanessa’s old cellphones that she no longer used.

She texted back to say she wouldn’t be able to buy it until she was paid on the upcoming Friday, but never received a response.

Now Atchison said she calls the cellphone Vanessa was using at the time of her disappearance daily in the hopes her friend will respond.

“Vanessa is a great person, a very helpful, loving, caring person. It’s not like her to just get up and leave or disappear, especially not without telling somebody,” she said. “She always told somebody where she was going to be.

“For this to happen is very, very abnormal.”

Vanessa is described as white, 5-foot-3, 110-pounds with long brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information about this disappearance is asked to call the London Police Service at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Information can also be sent in online anonymously to www.londoncrimestoppers.com

"Julie Atchison is convinced there are people in London who have information about the disappearance of her friend, Vanessa Fotheringham.

Atchison, 24, of Forest, Ont., organized a volunteer effort on Sunday (March 18) to look for clues to Fotheringham’s disappearance while also distributing flyers containing information about the 24-year-old woman’s Feb. 16 disappearance.

“Nobody believes she just went away. At first we thought she went on a vacation for a week or a weekend. She mentioned she had some stress in her life, but I never thought it had been to that extent,” Atchison said. “It is actually very clear that there are people who know something but aren’t coming forward.”

"Not everybody reads the paper or has time to watch the news, so let's get it out there, let's get people watching for her and hopefully if somebody knows something they'll come forward."

She described Fotheringham as a fun, outgoing person, who would do anything she could for anyone.

Police have linked her disappearance with a silver Saturn Vue SUV with black rims, though they haven't identified the driver as a suspect".

Who has her 4 year old daughter? Where are Vanessa's parents? :waitasec:

Still nothing?? This is my local neighbourhood and it concerns me greatly.....

I noticed this from several weeks ago and wondered if this incident might be in any way related....as a female was forced to drive this person.

"Man charged with sexual assault, forcible confinement (update)

UPDATE: The London police have arrested a man wanted in a sexual assault investigation.

On Saturday (March 3), police responded to a report of a sexual assault and forcible confinement at an address in London. The adult male suspect threatened and sexually assaulted a female and then forced the victim to drive him back to the Oneida First Nation.

Bumping for Vanessa and hope she is located soon.

At first not very much was known about Vanessa Fotheringham.

Initially all anyone really knew was the 24-year-old was last seen on the night of February 16th near Oxford and Quebec Streets and that London Police were concerned for her safety.

But now, we're getting a picture of a daughter and young mother who cares deeply about her friends.

Twenty-four-year-old Julie Atchison says she's been friends with Fotheringham for about a year and the two typically spend a lot of time with each other. Atchison says Fotheringham was living with her parents and her two or three-year-old daughter Tyra in London when she disappeared. She says her friend wasn't in school or working at the time".

It boggles my mind how there has not been that much in the news about this. The only person speaking out for is her friend Julie, the family want privacy I heard. There is a FB group for Vanessa, I haven't checked it in a while but they were going out each Sunday to hand out fliers in the area.
This happened way to close to home for me, I am extra careful in everything I do. I hope she is found safe soon. I have heard rumours from my neighbours and I hope they do jot turn out to be true

wow, I've just now read about Vanessa & it's been over 2 months!

going to read more now ...

here is what a 2002 Saturn Vue looks like (the one in the youtube video looks newer?), although the one police describe has black rims & no hubcaps & I don't know whether it's light or dark grey:

there is a FB missing group for her but I can't seem to post the link properly

I cannot find a personal FB page for her nor any more photos of her

this young lady appears (on the surface) to have left no internet footprint ...

really? a 24 year-old with no social media presence?

hmmm ...

I'll dig around some more later

I know the FB page is 'missing person - Vanessa fotheringham' I would link it too but on my phone it always comes up as the mobile page. I haven't found any social media sites for her. Her parents have kept quiet, it's mostly one friend I h ave seen doing interviews and trying to organise people to post fliers. I have not seen any missing posters posted around London though, it's sad there is not much information out there.
I think they need a missing page not group so the page and flier can be shared more but that's just my opinion.
