St. Johnsbury woman missing; child abandoned in her car

bilde

Police are searching for a missing Vermont mother whose vehicle was found abandoned Sunday along the side of a road with her 2-year-old son inside.
The SUV belonging to 33-year-old Melissa Jenkins, of Danville, Vt., was discovered Sunday along Goss Hollow Road in St. Johnsbury, not far from the woman's home, Vermont State Police Lt. Bob Cushing told FoxNews.com.
Jenkins' young son was found, unharmed, inside the 2006 silver Suzuki.
Cushing said authorities found evidence indicating the woman's disappearance is potentially suspicious, but he declined to elaborate on what was discovered. He noted that the vehicle was not out of gas.

Gee, the fact that her 2 y/o son was left in the car by himself isn't suspicious?

Even the worst mother in the world wouldn't willingly leave their child in an abandoned car by themselves. If a mother decided she was leaving her child, she'd leave him at home or with a friend or family member and just not come back for them.

I swear, sometimes LE says stupid things.

wonder why her son would be temporarily given to a "friend" vs his grandmother? :waitasec:

I wonder if she had a boyfriend?

And where did the friend live?

(so many questions)

Yes still so many unanswered questions. Not sure how old the mom is but if Melissa is 33, perhaps she's an older lady (??) and caring for a toddler would be too much for her especially under the current circumstances (??).

Hope she's found safe. :(

I found her staff directory profile at the st. johnsbury academy. She teaches science and is a coach (is also alumni from the school)

Did they say whether the friend who found her car was male or female?
