The body had been there for some time, said Tehama County Sheriff's Sgt. Dave Greer.

Because very little flesh was left, officials were unable to determine whether the remains were male or female, he said.

However, the body was clothed in denim jeans, slip-on or loafer-style men's shoes and a shirt.

The attire indicates that the person was dressed for a warmer time of year, Greer said.

The men's shoes seem to suggest that this is probably a male, and the fact that they are "slip-on or loafer style" shoes would suggest that he is probably older.

And the presence of cotton clothing would suggest that the body had not been there more than a few years.

I was unable to see if this UID was identified, and there were no email contacts listed for Tehama County Coroner's office, which "does not have a full-time medical examiner, but contracts with local doctors and dentists to review records or perform autopsies as needed. Criminal or suspicious death cases requiring forensic pathology are also contracted out." (Coroners Office - Operations Division - Tehama County Sheriff’s Office (tehamaso.org))
