TX - Devin Davis, 2, Liberty County, 27 March 2012

An Amber Alert has been issued for a two-year-old boy who's been reported missing in Liberty County.

Devin "Baby Boy" Davis was last seen around 3:15pm Tuesday at his home in the Sam Houston Lakes Estate in Cleveland. Davis' mother told authorities she woke up from a nap and discovered he was gone. Davis has blue eyes and red hair. He is about 30 inches tall and weighs about 40 pounds. He is wearing a gray and burgundy jersey, blue jeans and Spider-Man tennis shoes.

Police do not know what has occurred but fear the child may have wandered off and been abducted.

A family friend says the Davis family just moved to the Houston area from Virginia last week, according to our Houston Community Newspaper partner, The Cleveland Advocate.

The Liberty County Sheriff's Office and the Tarkington Volunteer Fire Department have set up a command post at the child's home as they continue to search for his whereabouts.

That is right up the road from me. I hope they find this poor baby safe soon! Hopefully a nice neighbor saw him wandering around and brought him inside their house to keep him safe. I know this happened to my nephew when he was about the same age.

    I don't like reading this:

A creek is about 100 feet away from the home. State troopers have deployed helicopters to help in the search.

    Me either.

My heart is breaking reading this, his pictures remind me so much of my own son at that age.

I was always so afraid my kids would wake up in the middle of the night and open the door and wander off. I was so paranoid about it that I installed a dead bolt so high up on the door that they wouldn't even be able to reach it by standing on a chair.

It's unusual in missing child/person cases for LE to come right out and say they believe an abduction occured so early on. There's got to me more to this case than LE is releasing.

I'm not so sure. Cleveland is an extremely small town and their police force probably has little to no experience in a case like this.

Liberty County is also the county where 6 months to a year ago they believed a psychic's tip that there was 30 children buried at a certain house. They sent the whole police force, including the sheriff's department and even consulted the FBI about it. There was nothing there and it turned out the psychic was a quack.

I'm really not too confident in their investigative abilities.

    It was last June: http://www.khou.com/news/crime/Liber...123394698.html

Fireants and mosquitos have been really bad out there.

I still wonder what they know, that would make them issue an Amber Alert.

I hope that maybe they don't want to take any chances and did anything they could to make the Amber Alert fit just to get it out to as many people as possible in case he was abducted.

And I hear you about the mosquitoes. They are bad in my yard and I live very near a University, so mosquito-spraying trucks and planes come by every night.

It is pitch black here now. I wonder if they can use the heat censors from a helicopter to find the poor baby out in those woods?
