    Canada - Selkirk MB, Bones found near Red River, Mar'12 - Name withheld

    Officers were initially dispatched to the Highway 4 bridge, north of Selkirk near the Red River in the RM of St. Clements, shortly after 5 p.m. on Saturday.

    Sgt Line Karpish said a man saw a partial skeleton while he was riding an ATV near the river.
    Not thought to be a recent death.

    Manitoba missing persons. The search function didn't find anybody from Selkirk but Winnipeg isn't too far away and there are several old cases from Winnipeg.

    "We do suspect the bones came from the river," she said. "They're not new remains. That area was underwater at one point. It could be (bones) from an old burial ground.

    Hi Cazzie.

    Several different scenarios, particularly in Canada, or so it seems to myself.

    • The person found was never reported missing.
    • The family specifically requested that the information not be released to the public.
    • The death was suicide
    • The death was not homicide. (Accidental)

    I think also if they haven't been able to inform the next of kin about the death yet.
