It looks to me that aggravated manslaughter of the 1st degree is punishable by a maximum of 30 years and a $10,000 fine.
    3) A person who causes the death of any person under the age of 18 by culpable negligence under s. 827.03(3) commits aggravated manslaughter of a child, a felony of the first degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084.
    (b) For a felony of the first degree, by a term of imprisonment not exceeding 30 years or, when specifically provided by statute, by imprisonment for a term of years not exceeding life imprisonment.
    b) $10,000, when the conviction is of a felony of the first or second degree.

Anyone know anything about the FL statute this article is talking about?

Moreover, the Florida statute provides an additional layer of protection to a defendant claiming self-defense: A judge must decide whether the defendant is "immune from prosecution," that is, if the judge believes his actions fall under the law of self-defense.

So the following mixed outcome is certainly possible: The special prosecutor indicts; the judge does or doesn't grant immunity; if he doesn't, the jury acquits.

I have been reading you all since this case broke and want to tell all WS friends how much I love and admire their support. I haven't jumped into commenting on this one, although I read everything everywhere about it. But I'm still tender from the Caylee "mess" and am here with you all - but staying in the background for now. Justice for Trayvon and Justice for Tori Stafford!
    Hugs to all!

Official: Charges coming in Trayvon Martin death
By Kyle Hightower and Brendan Farrington
    Associated Press

Sanford, Fla. After weeks of mounting tension and protests across the U.S., a special prosecutor has decided to bring charges against neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman in the killing of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, a law enforcement official said Wednesday.

The official, speaking to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity, said prosecutor Angela Corey would announce the charges at a 6 p.m. news conference. The official said he did not know the charges. Corey confirmed only that she would make an announcement at that time.

The Martin family and their attorney, Ben Crump, renewed their pleas for calm as the hour approached.

Yes. IMO, it will be aggravated manslaughter but no hate crime charges which may be why the family has requested a peaceful reaction and no violence.

Pure Speculation and JMO, OMO, and
all my comments are just my opinion. jmho. moo. etc. etc.
