AR - Tawana Blunt, 19, raped & murdered, Forrest City, 15 Sept 2000

DNA links an Indiana inmate to the rape and killing of a 19-year-old mother who was strangled in eastern Arkansas more than a decade ago, police said Wednesday.

Authorities plan to extradite Anthony Johnson to Arkansas, where he is expected to face charges of capital murder, rape and kidnapping in Tawana Blunt's death, Forrest City Police Chief E.P. Reynolds said.

It took ten years to get the match. He went to prison for abusing his girlfriend.

They say he turned a little pale when he learned they were taking blood for a DNA test for Forrest City.

Why is it that when a custodial parent fails to provide for a child it is called neglect and is a criminal matter. But when a non custodial parent fails to provide it is called failure to support and is a civil matter?

Very good. In Westchester county, NY the police caught the murderer of 2 postitutes in the 90's, because the killer had to give dna after a felony DWI last year.

I love that they are taking DNA on so many now.

The actor who played "Random Task" in the Austin Powers movie was caught the same way. He committed a horrible gang-rape, then years later got convicted for vandalism, so he had to give a DNA sample. He later killed his cellmate in prison!

    From February 2014:

Turner's daughter, Tawana Blunt, was raped and murdered in a Forrest City apartment complex in 2000. The man accused was set to go to trial in two weeks, but prosecutors made a deal even though Turner was told they wouldn't...

Johnson will serve 40 years, a long sentence, but he was facing a capital murder charge...

Johnson is still serving time in Indiana. Twenty years of his sentence from Arkansas will be served concurrently with that time.
