Police investigate sighting in Spain

Spanish police are investigating a reported sighting of Madeleine McCann in a Costa del Sol resort.

Specialist officers are following up a tip-off received about 10 days ago that a girl resembling the missing British child was spotted in Nerja, 30 miles east of Malaga, sources said.

for some reason i've never believed she was dead like i have in other cases,so my fingers and toes are crossed that this leads them a little closer to finding her

I too have doubts that she was killed. It seems quite plausible that she was taken and adopted on the black market, or simply taken by someone who could not have children, and wanted one. This was a crime of opportunity and I believe someone knew the routines of the parents, and knew exactly when to get her from the vacation apartment. I also believe she was taken, and not the older child (were there two older children - I cannot remember) because she was younger, and easier to take for various reasons. JMHO but I am very interested in these latest developments.

Hi, With Eddie and Keela sniffing a death scent in the McCann's resort room AND also in the home the McCann's leased after they had to leave the resort, I firmly believe G Amoral's assertion that Madeleine died in that resort room. I also believe her body was hidden behind the couch for at least 2 hours as it was scented by human recovery dogs, one which scented her dead blood {Keela}.

BTW, Martin Grimes is now in the US at the request of the FBI and testifying on the discovery made by another of his dogs in the Bianca Jones case:

The dog was able to pick up a cadaver scent inside Lane's car and the girls' bedroom in Lane's home as well as on the blanket Bianca had been covered with and her car seat.

Grime confirmed for defense attorney Victoria Shackelford that the dogs detect only the generic scent of human decomposition. The dogs, he said, cannot determine identity, age, race, gender or the rate of decomposition.

Lane is jailed on a $3 million bond.

These sightings coming to the fore five years later are so dodgy imo, one woman said she was over 100 per cent certain it was madeleine but she was busy with guests at xmas at the time and didnt report it to the police until at least a week later. You can only roll your eyes.

I may be wrong, but as far as I recall, cadaver scent was not found in the home the McCanns leased later. TIA for more info on this

The area behind the couch was among the very significant spots where both the cadaver dog and the blood dog alerted; maybe Madeleine died from a fall behind the sofa while her parents were away? (jmpo)

there is nothing to dispute this theory

I hope it is her and she is alive and well.

ITA Josie. I've never believed Maddy died that night. I think the sighting of the man with the child in p.j.'s was her being abducted. She could be anywhere now ... in Spain or South Africa but I do think she's still out there somewhere.

I really hope they do find her. I just find it hard to believe someone would kidnap a child then go out and about with them, but it has happened - jaycee lee dugard, Natasha in Austria (cannot remember her surname), stephen stayner (his kidnapper also took another little boy who was found with stephen) etc. If anyone had ever asked me if I thought there was a chance any of these children were alive I would have said no.
But with the other attacks on tourist children in the area, I cannot help suspecting the same person took madeleine perhaps because they accidently suffocated her and they paniked. But hopefully that did not happen and she is alive.
After the jersey care home fiasco where Grime's dogs alerted to coconut shell, i would not take their findings as a certainty.

Neither Jaycee, nor Natasha, nor Steven EVER received the sort of world-wide publicity the McCann machine has been able to generate.

Everyone in several continents knows about Maddie - certainly no one outside their own locales knew of the other missing children.

These cases are apples and oranges and cannot be compared IMO.
