CA - Charlotte Molinari, 15, Santa Rosa, 14 April 2012

Sonoma County authorities are searching for a missing 15-year-old girl who disappeared after she left home last weekend for a bike ride.

Santa Rosa police Sgt. Lisa Banayat said Charlotte Anna Molinari left home Saturday morning after telling her father she was going for a ride and never returned.

The Santa Rosa Press Democrat reports ( http://bit.ly/HT40M4) that detectives on Wednesday learned that Molinari might have been headed to Annadel State Park, and sent a search helicopter up to look for her.

Banayat told the newspaper that Molinari was a student at Sonoma Academy, and that the girl may suffer from depression.

She was wearing a dark blue knee-length coat and a green backpack. She also had a ukulele and a laptop and rode a green mountain bike, Banayat said.

those are odd things to take on a bike ride

I hope she just needs some alone time. I pray she hasn't harmed herself.

Charlotte Anna Molinari, a sophomore at Sonoma Academy in Santa Rosa, had been feeling depressed before she rode her bike away from the family’s apartment near Coddingtown Mall about 9:45 a.m. last Saturday, her father said Thursday.

She told him she wanted to go to Spring Lake and Annadel, John Molinari said. He tried to talk her out of going, but she slipped away a short time later, he said.

“It seems now she was planning this,” Molinari said.

He called police that evening and a Santa Rosa officer searched the neighborhood without finding her. But there wasn’t much more police activity until Wednesday, when investigators searched her bedroom and got a court order to get into her Facebook account, Molinari said.

Police at first assumed she was a runaway, he said.

“Then they actually listened and connected the dots,” he said. Meanwhile, some of Charlotte’s friends started looking for her, Molinari said.

Santa Rosa Police issued a public appeal for help finding Charlotte on Thursday.

Late Thursday, search and rescue teams canvassed Spring Lake Park, searching the 300-acre park by ground and air. They were joined by civilians and park workers.

Investigators said the teen does not have a history of running away, but were concerned for her well-being because of computer entries that suggested she was depressed.

The search for Molinari will resume 8 a.m. Friday morning, and deputies said dogs will be added to the effort.

Yeah, not all that far from Sierra Sre. I do not think it is connected at all, but this girl needs help. It sounds like she's not a chronic runaway and was having some real issues. I don't know why it took so long to get dogs out on this one. 6 days have passed, the trail is still completely doable. I hope they can pick up on it. Her bike is somewhere... Where is she?
Charlotte Anna Molinari, 15, was depressed about what she deemed a romantic rejection when she left home on her bike Saturday morning after talking about going to Spring Lake or Annadel State Park, according to her father and police.

But the severity of her emotional state was not clear until Wednesday, when her father found her journal and an entry from several weeks ago in which she detailed her pain and discussed suicide, police Lt. Steve Bair said.

Police obtained court orders Wednesday to search her cellphone, email and Internet records, Bair said. On Thursday morning, they learned she had gone on the Internet to research the route from the apartment she shared with her dad near Coddingtown Mall to the Veterans Memorial Trail entrance to Annadel in the Annadel Heights neighborhood.

“That’s why we start concentrating our searches up here in Annadel,” Bair said. “It was the most most recent information and the best place to start.”
