Race/Sex/Age as of yet undetermined. Per article it is to large for a child and too small for an adult. (So, a teen?)

I found this story linked on the Bring Holly Home FB page. Obviously they are hoping it's not Holly. There is nothing right now to suggest it would be.

WARNING: There is a picture of the skull found at the link. I couldn't find a right size/angle pic to compare with Holly, but maybe someone can try. I followed Holly's case closely when it broke last year, and I hope nothing bad has happened to her, but I'm realistic about the statistics too. If she's not okay, I hope she is found so her family will have some peace. They seem like super nice people.

I'm no expert but those two front teeth to me seem pretty close to HB. I pray not.

I am thinking that due to the absence of a brow-ridge and the sharp upper edges of the eye sockets, that this skull is of a female. However I could be wrong, especially if this is a teen. I am pretty sure based on the shapes of the eye sockets and teardrop-shaped nasal aperture, and a non-protruding maxilla, that this is a Caucasian.

In addition to Holly Bobo and Shelley Mook (already mentioned above), I'll add Cara Beth Allen to the mix.

Holly is the youngest and smallest of the three. However, this was found pretty close to the area Shelly Mook disappeared from.

Of course they don't even know how old it is yet - so it could even be a long ago case.

Carl, are there fillings in the back teeth? I thought maybe it looked like fillings or cavities - just darker areas.

Looks like fillings to me. This morning on a blog that was discussing this UID case I mentioned that in the comments section. Someone was saying that the skull was probably 100 years old, and I responded that it couldn't be that old because of the fillings. Also, the skull would be much more weathered if it was that old, and the teeth would all probably be gone.

I am thinking that it looks fairly recent.

Me too because of the teeth. BTW, Amber Cates had two fillings according to Charley Project.

Just checking in to see if an Identification was made.

Lots of different information:

http://www.wkrn.com/story/17516461/fisherman-finds-skull-in-river-near-shelbyville

"appeared to be that of a young adult"

http://www.t-g.com/story/1838037.html

"The skull is larger than a child's but smaller than a full-grown person, Boyce said.

The sheriff said the age of the skull is uncertain. "It could go back to the Civil War," Boyce said."

http://www.fox17.com/newsroom/top_stories/videos/wztv_vid_11892.shtml

"Thursday we learned that this skull was very likely a man...

It has been almost a year and a half since Bobby Smelcer disappeared, and his sisters have never given up their search"

"We can tell you its lower jaw is missing, and no other bones have been recovered."

(OP article from news 5 clearly shows lower jaw)

HTH

Does it look like the back molar on the left side never erupted and not just is missing?
And they said the lower jaw is missing. What are we looking at then?

They are saying that the lower jaw is missing, so this photo (which includes a mandible) must not be the same skull.

ETA: I just noticed after I posted, that SoBeCzar observed the same thing.

That is crazy!

I tried to googlemap/bing the area (ALA CarlK - who I think found the skeleton in the freeway median). My eyes see LOTS of things (and lots of sandbars). The one article mentioned Woodland Meadows, end of Stewart (dirt rd) - found this area - there are a couple of sand bars. This is a VERY wind-y river I don't see where, aside from a rushing flood how a body could travel far.
