VA - Michael Temple, 40, & D.J. Watts, 19, murdered, Chesapeake, 22 April 2012
Police in coastal Virginia say a North Carolina man is accused of killing two people he had taken hostage before he was wounded by police.
Chesapeake Police spokeswoman Kelly O'Sullivan said officers arrived in the 1300 block of Canal Drive just before 1 a.m. and heard screaming and gunshots coming from inside an apartment. Offices were unable to get anyone to answer the door or make entry into the home.

Why is it that when a custodial parent fails to provide for a child it is called neglect and is a criminal matter. But when a non custodial parent fails to provide it is called failure to support and is a civil matter?

From February 2013:
A North Carolina man will spend the rest of his life in prison on charges he killed his ex-girlfriend's son and new boyfriend last April during a hostage standoff.
Charles Collins - who police eventually shot in the right eye - was sentenced Monday to two life sentences, plus 58 years...
In exchange for Collins' guilty pleas last October, prosecutors agreed not to pursue the death penalty...
