TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Tucson police are searching for a 6-year-old girl who went missing from her home on the city's east side.

Isabel Mercedes Celis was last seen late Friday and discovered to be missing at about 8 a.m. Saturday.

Sgt. Maria Hawke says police are searching the area around East Broadway Boulevard and Craycroft Road using street patrols, canines, detectives and a helicopter.

She's described as just under 4-feet-tall and weighing 44 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes.

Missing Arizona Girl Search Intensifies After K-9s Find Clue in House

The search for missing 6-year-old Isabel Mercedes Celis intensified today after specially trained police dogs found something in the girl's home which piqued investigators' interests.

"We have information we obtained from the dogs that has necessitated more follow-up investigation," Tucson Police Chief Roberto Villasenor said today.

Just reading about this case. Do any of you know what LE has found that is so interesting?

Police have asked the family of a 6-year-old Arizona girl who disappeared from her bedroom to leave their Tucson home after an FBI dog search Monday turned up new information that required a closer examination, investigators told KVOA.com.

Police Chief Roberto Villasenor told the NBC affiliate that canine units alerted police to a “new direction” and officers were working with the dog handlers to interpret the latest discovery inside the home of missing first-grader Isabel Mercedes Celis. Dogs from an FBI canine unit from Virginia began searching the home after midnight Monday, police said.

Will someone post a link for livestream of the next LE update? Thanks. I'll tune in to CNN/HLN to see if they cover it.

TMC sets up fund:

Tucson Medical Center has established a special fund to assist the search for Isabel Celis and to support her family during this time.
To donate to this fund, click here:

hearing helicopter circling...I work in Williams Center, just across Craycroft from the 12th st address.

There should be another scheduled update right about now. Of course, Chief did say "a couple of hours," so that's not set in stone, especially given the activity right now.

I am hoping he will have a presser soon....I would assume he would if he has a new lead, if he is going to share anything about it that is....

I am not liking that they found something in the home....not at all...IMHO

Another thing that is standing out to me is they started searching the home just after midnight, evidently it must have been something they got tipped off about. Now they are asking the family to vacate....hmmmm

they had to fly in the fbi dogs... I think it was planned....

also a little bit more background on the home:

-2 search warrants were served on saturday (they won't disclose but I think think the home was one of them as this morning Chief V said that this was the second time the house was secured)

Hi all, I've been lurking for a long time but I'm also a Tucsonan, so had to weigh in on this case. One thing I've noticed on the local coverage is a lot of mom's co-workers and friends being involved in distributing fliers, giving interviews, etc., but I haven't seen anyone from dad's work. (Not that they're not there, just that mom's seem to have a big presence.) Has anyone seen anything different?)

In a mid-morning news conference, Tucson Police chief Roberto Villaseñor said the most significant lead came when one of the FBI search dogs "hit" on something. What may have caused the hit was not disclosed.

The FBI flew the dogs in from Virginia on Sunday night. One of the two dogs is a cadaver search dog, Villaseñor said.

Police are not expanding the search radius beyond 3 miles at this time, Villaseñor said. Instead they are going back through the neighborhood, making sure to interview anyone they may have missed previously and in some cases re-interviewing people.

Just guessing, but perhaps Mom has more co-workers, and they work various shifts so some are perhaps more available during the day. I haven't seen it announced where Dad works (except he's a dental hygienist). Dad may work at a daytime-only practice, so everyone's working, and he may have far fewer co-workers than Mom. Even on the weekends, some may not be able to get away from their own familial and work responsibilities. JMHG.

Did anyone get what the reportor ask at the end of the last Presser,

?..Something about what time the mother left for work or something...?
