    AZ - Karl Bonz, 42, Phoenix, 26 April 2012

    http://http://www.kpho.com/story/179...n-phoenix-area

    PHOENIX (CBS5) -
A west Valley man crashed his truck and he hasn't been seen since, his family told CBS 5 News.
Karl Bonz told family members Thursday he was just going to drop off his kids. Instead, he has dropped off the map, said Ryan Trudell, Bonz's brother-in-law.
"He took out another three more poles and some barbed wire along the way," Trudell said. "There were people on the ground immediately there to see what happened to him, but there was no Karl to be found at that point."
Searchers have been looking for Bonz on horseback and ATVs to no avail. There have been no sightings of Bonz since the crash.
The Maricopa County Sheriffs Office did two aerial searches and used K-9s to track Bonz's scent at the crash site near 355th Avenue and Indian School Road, but nothing has worked, so far.
"I truly don't know what else we can do on this spot, which makes me believe it's a Valley-wide search to find where he actually went to," Trudell said.
People knowing Bonz's whereabouts are asked to call the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.

Did the accident happen before or after dropping of the kids? I would assume so otherwise they would be looking for them as well.

Was he inebriated and that's why he is hiding out so as to not get in trouble?

    Hope they find him soon!

For some reason I'm not getting the article to pull up today. The MSM source probably moved it on their site. Happens all the time.

I did find this link to the exact same article that OP posted in post #1 in case anyone else has the same issue.

There is a video and the front end of that truck is totaled IMHO. He could have had a head injury.

We have quite a few cases in our archives where a person wrecked their vehicle and went missing immediately afterwards. IMHO it's usually because of a closed head injury.

I hope he's safe and returned home soon!

Well this is certainly spooky! Its as if he was beamed up to outer space while driving down the road.

Hmmm, weird. Could he have put something on the gas pedal to make it crash while he wasn't in the vehicle, to look like an accident so he could disappear? Need more info.

there were people in the ground immediately so I assume no one else drove him to the hospital, unless ... unless he wandered away because of a head injury and someone down the road out of sight of the accident scene did pick him up

I hope he's alright and I hope he comes home safe to his children

There is like zero media here for this. The area he crashed in is pretty much desert and it has been in the 100's this week so if he wandered into the desert (head injury was my first thought) there is no way that he is ok. The paranoid side of me wonders if someone didn't cause him to run off the road and then grabbed him when he stopped. Or maybe I am watching too much Law and Order LOL

wow, very odd. I'm guessing they can tell he wasn't thrown from the vehicle. Is there any rivers or lakes nearby?

Not in that area. It is all desert and it is pretty deserted too. Not a lot of traffic.

This is eerie. It reminds me of Patricia Meehan.

Here is another thought. What if he wasn't the one driving? Got car jacked and killed and the perp stole his truck, wrecked it then just blended in with the crowd and slipped away unnoticed.
