    GZ's 2005 MySpace Postings

This thread is for discussion of GZ's 2005 MySpace page ONLY.

    Joe G. MySpace

All the usual WS TOS and Rules of Etiquette apply here.

    - Link to the MS page only.

    - NO copy and paste of posts, pix, responses, and etc. Link to the site and direct others to what you wish to discuss via date/time of posting. DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE, COPY AND PASTE OR POST LINKS TO others who may have responded to the MS page in any way. No sleuthing of anyone not named a suspect in this case.

    - Discuss concepts only, and PLEASE do not attack one another.

    - Keep discussion limited to social media as it impacts this case and future cases. We seem to have come to a turning point in US law, where social media and its potential effects on trials can no longer be ignored. This gets to a huge issue with far-reaching implications. Let's discuss those issues and implications respectfully.

    OK, I will tiptoe in.

Social media is transforming so many aspects of our daily lives. I grew up in a time when, if you wanted to communicate with a friend (and you couldn't run down the street to find them, or ride your bike to the next block over), you picked up the heavy rotary phone receiver and dialed their number. And if they didn't answer, or their mom said they were not there at the time, you hung up and went and did other things. No one had answering machines.

I am watching with great curiosity how the explosion of social media networking will play out in the criminal justice world in the US.

Think back seven years, and consider how much new technology we have at our fingertips now vs then. Consider our present world where one is never more than a few screen taps away from broadcasting the most trivial minutiae of our lives to dozens if not hundreds or thousands of followers. Given that the internet/web/cloud is forever, in a way that those heavy rotary dial phones and the conversations we had on them was not, what does this mean for the justice system? What does it mean for us as individuals?

And how does this all affect the legal process? Is social media a good or a bad or a net-neutral development?

George Zimmerman’s Myspace: every Mexican pulled a knife
Just as George Zimmerman’s attorney pushes the envelope of accepted legal practices by launching a social media operation for his client, another site has popped up that belonged to the controversial former neighborhood watch volunteer who now faces a murder charge.
This one is a 7-year old Myspace page called “only to be king again” that makes disparaging comments about Mexicans. The Web page, which his attorney confirmed Tuesday is legitimate, makes reference to 2005 criminal cases and a brush in court with a woman who Zimmerman called his “ex-hoe.”
There are several photos of Zimmerman on the page, and in one of them he appears to be wearing the same orange polo shirt that he donned in his 2005 police mug shot. Zimmerman used the name “Joe G.” on the site, and posted a biography that mentions he grew up in Manassas, Va., had recently opened an insurance business and missed all his friends.

Zimmerman’s attorney, Mark O’Mara, confirmed the page was his client’s, and that it was abandoned in 2005.

GZ's manner and way with words seems to have changed from the bravado personality of Joe G.

HOWEVER, although he and his attorney would have us believe that this account has been dormant since 2005, that does not appear to be the case.

The photo of him & a woman, where he is wearing the orange polo (as noted by the embedded image info) was last updated in January 2010.

So the bravado that we see in this "old" MS page was left as is even after the photo was either added or "MODIFIED" in January 2010.

What stands out to everyone who has either read the "About Me" or the "Blogs" is that he is quite comfortable eluding to getting assistance from his friends to get rid of legal nuisances that seemed to have plagued him.

A few thoughts about this page:

    1) The play on his name, "Joe G". Makes me think he is trying to be hip, cool, street, whatever, by using "Joe G" in place of Georgy.

    2) On his "Blurbs: About Me", he lists a friend who he refers to as "Frank the Tank". I'm sure it's not, but made me wonder if he could be referring to FT. Have we ever heard how long these two have known each other?

    3) His movies list are all Gangster type movies. Scarface, Good Fellas, Casino, Empire. He adds "learn from them". Did he?

    4) On his blog, under "Out Come Of First Case", he talks about his "ex hoe" and how he "broke her down". He follows this with "Stay tuned for the A.T.F. charges. A.T.F.? Have we heard about charges from them yet and the outcome?

A few threads back I mentioned I looked for a business name for GZ's insurance agency he supposedly had started with a friend. I couldn't find any businesses under GZ's name. He did pass his insurance agent exam but the state had no record that he ever became an agent. (That's not the exact wording from the State of Florida but that site is down for maintenance so I can't check on it right now.) http://www.myfloridacfo.com/Data/AAR_ALIS1/index.htm

On the MySpace page, GZ mentions a business name - Zimmerman, Tamayo & Associates. That name was never registered with the State of Florida Division of Corporations as a corporation, limited liability company, fictitious name or any other way that I can find. http://www.sunbiz.org/search.html

On the main discussion thread, someone asked if anyone wondered why the site was still up.

Is the media relations/public relations group farming IPSs to see what demographic is looking at the MS site and compare the IPSs to who is commenting and how they weigh in on the Facebook and GZDfense sites?

Did not think about ISP farming but Media relations is all over this like a rash.
