The body of 31-year-old Arlet Hernandez Contreras, who investigators suspected was killed along with her two sons at an Orange County apartment complex, has been found at the Los Angeles County morgue.

Homicide detectives contacted various coroner offices, asking if they had any unidentified female bodies, said Orange Police Sgt. Dan Adams. The Los Angeles County coroner's office responded, indicating it had a woman who appeared to have been stabbed to death. The case was being investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Shazer Fernando Limas' Girlfriend's Body Found, Two Children's Bodies Still Missing

Police said Saturday they located the body of the girlfriend of a Southern California man who led officers on a chase that shut down a busy freeway for an hour.

Shazer Fernando Limas, 31, was arrested early Friday following the chase on Interstate 5. He is suspected of killing his girlfriend, Arlet Hernandez Contreras, 31, and the couple's two young boys.

Detectives found evidence in his apartment indicating that the victims were killed about three weeks ago and the bodies were dumped elsewhere.

Father killed children, put remains in trash, police say

When police arrived at a bloodied Orange apartment last Thursday, they say it was clear something was wrong.

The couple who lived on West Chapman Avenue with their two sons had moved out days ago. No one had been reported missing, and the move-out went without a hitch. Yet there was enough blood in the apartment that police quickly began a search for the four members of the family, including the father, Shazer Fernando Limas.

On Monday, prosecutors filed three murder charges with special enhancements against Limas, who they claim slashed his family to death. They allege that the 31-year-old man disposed of his girlfriend’s body 10 days after killing her, just hours before the corpse was discovered in gutter on a La Puente street. They also believe Limas may have disposed of their 2-year-old and 4-month-old children in an apartment dumpster. Searchers have been digging through a Brea landfill for days looking for their remains but have found nothing.

"Limas had lived in that apartment with his girlfriend of about three years, Arlet Hernandez Contreras, and their two boys, police said. He moved out late last month; a cleaning company found blood on the floor, beneath the carpet and on the walls, Adams said."
"Prosecutors allege Limas stabbed Contreras and their two sons at their apartment on April 14. They base that, in part, on a hospital visit by Limas the next day to have surgery on a cut on his hand. Police have not recovered the knife used to kill Contreras."

Prosecutors say the slayings occurred April 14. One day later, Limas went to Long Beach Memorial Hospital for surgery on a cut to his hand. Then, in intervening days, he purchased supplies, including a tarp, from a local Home Depot. Police say that two weeks after he killed the family, Limas calmly gave the apartment keys back to property managers. Cleaning crews discovered the blood in the unit and alerted managers, who contacted authorities.

Search ends at landfill for missing boys

The search for the bodies of two young boys believed to have been killed by their father inside their Orange apartment has concluded without success at a Brea landfill, authorities said.

[snip]

Investigators and cadaver-sniffing dogs searched the Brea landfill for several days for the bodies of the boys. Police said they had no specific evidence that led them to the landfill but were searching it on the theory that anything thrown out from Limas' apartment would end up there.

"We were confident at the end of the search that there wasn't anything there," Orange police Sgt. Dan Adams said, adding that investigators have not determined a specific location they will search next.

How very sad for the mom and those two little boys. Innocent victims of a cold-blooded killer who needs to be behind bars forever and then some.
