Study finds bullies are the bullied too
http://www.guardian.co.uk/education/2008/aug/29/bullying.schools

A study from 2008.

Focusing on information collected from 6,500 eight- to 11-year-olds, researchers found that 5% of children were bullies, but only 0.5% were "true" bullies, while 4.5% were bullied themselves.

Not surprised that most bullies are bullied themselves.

The majority (74%) of bullies were found to be boys, who suffered the highest levels of depression, anger, paranoia, emotional disaffection and suicidal behaviour, and disliked school the most.

Anyone surprised by this?

The researchers argued that this absence of "true" bullies could be down to the social environment of primary schools, where children have less tolerance for power imbalances. They suggest that more of these bullies could be found in secondary schools, not examined in the study, as social arrangements are more hierarchical and power balances less equal.

I read a study recently, about "pure victims" and "bully victims".

There are a lot of bully victims, for sure, and a lot of "pure victims" - that is, those who don't bully at all but are just victimized.

Interestingly, the category of "pure bullies" - that is, kids who bully others but are seldom bullied themselves - have higher than normal self-esteem, debunking the myth that bullies do that because they feel bad about themselves. Actually they feel quite good about themselves and are then kind of unlikely to remember being bullies in the years that follow and are unlikely to remember their victims at all. Although their victims go through a lifetime of remembering the bullies and believe the bullies will remember them, too.

The difference between the .05 and 4.5%? S***** parents. JMO. Being bullied doesn't make becoming a bully ok. The kids are mouthbreathing mongrels who have trash for parents, and are destined for failure if things aren't changed. again, JMO.

If every person who was bullied became a bully, we would have some big problems right there.

As they say, the apple does not fall far from the tree. Children are a reflection of their parents.

Makes me wonder if some people are born evil. The scary fact is psychopaths are everywhere, not just some mass murdering evil figure in history like Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Pol Pot, or Osama bin Laden.

Good to know it can be reversesd if diagnosed early enough eough.
