DICKINSON, N.D. -— Authorities searching for a man who went missing from a work site in southwestern North Dakota enlisted the help of dogs but didn't have success.

Dickinson police say dogs from South Dakota-based Dakota Territory Search Dogs were brought in Tuesday as authorities continued to look for 30-year-old Eric Haider (HY'-dur) of Bismarck. He was last seen Thursday at a Dickinson-area construction site where he had been working with a plumbing company.

Here's what I don't understand - weeks later and police still did not have a computer they requested from the family? WHY would the family not turn everything over to LE as soon as asked?

I couldn't open a couple of the links - he just vanished from a work site? No one picked him up? How many people were working there that day? One other? Many others?

I am not surprised by any type of violence in that area. A friend who works in the oil fields was telling us yesterday that there are armed guards at the sites and barbed wire fencing around the rigging/construction/drilling areas. That area has brought in a lot of shady people because of work. Sherry Arnold is often mentioned in our area as a cautionary tale.

Nearly eight months to the day after his friend was last seen, Rick Lemke said he believes he knows what happened to Eric Haider, although the missing person investigation that was the talk of the town last summer has remained stagnant.
