Surrey Mounties reveal oldest cold case of local man missing more than 50 years

Wilkinson is described as: Caucasian, 5’5” to 5’6,” weighing 140 lbs with blue grey eyes, brown hair with sideburns and a medium build.

Anyone with information on Wilkinson is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP Missing Persons Unit by email or through the non-emergency number at 604-599-0502.

Albert would now be 84, he was 30 years old when he went missing. He was last seen 23 JAN 1957 at his workplace. He worked at the Martin Paper Co. in New Westminster. He failed to pick up his last paycheck.

He was a commercial fisherman and was an avid cartoonist.

LE investigations show he did not join the Army and has not contacted any employment agencies.

He was living by himself in North Surrey with his dog. His dog and rifle were missing from his home but his ID and wallet were still there.

There was one reported alleged sighting on 29 JAN 1957 by an eyewitness who claimed that she had met a man by the name of "Al" and she was an employee of Woolworths.

Additional info from link above:

Investigators were also told that Albert may have gone to Northern BC to go fishing with a friend by the nickname of ‘Old Man’, whom he spoke of often. There was insufficient information with respect to this obtained to be able to identify the friend or determine where the friend lived.

Some time prior to going missing, Albert introduced his family to a woman whom he said he had married. Investigators later learned that while Albert had given her a diamond solitaire ring and a plain wedding ring, they were not married and she was in fact living with and married to another man.

There was an indication that Albert had been drinking quite heavily in the year prior to his going missing.

The relationship with the wife of another man caught my eye. Just noting it here.

If his dog was missing too, then I think he ran off and changed his identity, leaving his identification behind. Man's best friend!

I have the impression reading the little information that there is about albert that he either escaped looking for a new life, that the husband of the woman who gave him the ring attacked him, that he committed suicide and took his dog with him or maybe he went to leave it somewhere remote..
More than 50 years lost without knowing anything about him..
rest in peace Albert
