Ryan Baurley would have been in the prime of his life at aged 20 years old if he hadn't have died in his crib while in the care of his babysitter Melissa Haskell.

Haskell admitted to police she was an "overly extreme" heroin addict back then. An overly extreme heroin addict? Is there any other kind? Haskell said she was in withdrawl and seriously sick when she showed up to watch the baby that day. One bag of dope she said would have easily helped her. Indeed.

At some point this chick admitted to her boyfriend she had smothered the poor infant. She says she did this to get sympathy from him while the two were high and it worked.

Yeah well then he went on a custody crusade for his own seven year old son and turned her sorry tail in.

RIP little Ryan.

Haskell's trial continues.

This is very sad. The family had to endure the pain of loosing and burying their infant son so long ago and now they are having to go through it all over again. Even worse, now they are living with the pain of knowing their baby boy was murdered.

My prayers are with this family. Rest in Peace, Ryan.

As she continued to steadfastly profess her innocence, an Upper Merion woman learned she is headed to state prison for suffocating an infant she baby-sat 20 years ago.

Melissa Haskell... choked back tears Wednesday as she was sentenced to 10-to-20-years in the State Correctional Institution at Muncy after she was convicted by a jury of third-degree murder in connection with the Aug. 26, 1992, death of 5-month old Ryan Baurley at a Swedesburg home...

“We were young, we were in love and we wanted a family,” Michael Baurley somberly told the packed courtroom, adding he battled anger and mental anguish over the course of 20 years since his child’s death. “I think Melissa is an ignorant and arrogant human being. It was remarkable that justice finally came for us 20 years later.”
