Police are investigating after a 3-year-old was found in a car with the bodies of two gunshot victims in southwest Florida. The child was not harmed.

Fort Myers Police found the girl asleep in the backseat with the bodies of Jerrett Byrd, 23, and Chariah Owens, 16, inside the car around 4 a.m.

The girl was asleep in the backseat when police found her. She is Owens' cousin

Owens was five months pregnant.

The toddler has been identified as 3-year-old A.O. [pls note I have redacted the toddlers name], the cousin of the female victim. A. [redacted] suffered only minor lacerations from broken glass.

I live in Fort Myers and crime has really erupted since the New Year. Mostly young people. It really is sad. I'm wondering if it is all connected? A young boy was shot and killed. in much the same manner just days before this shooting. Drive by. Early morning. Not too far away from where this happened.

The girl who was killed was only 16-years-old. The baby in the car was her cousin. The older boy was her boyfriend. Rumor is that the 16-year-old victim was 4 months pregnant too?

This is a hate crime against 2 trans persons..... so sad. It would not surprise me if both Eddie James Owen, who identified as Yaz’min Shancez, and Cha’riah Owens were murdered by the same perp.
