Philanthropist Guma Aguiar Reportedly Missing

There is a tropical low in the middle-west of Cuba all the way thru the lower part of FL. Been a while since I've sailed (and that was in the Gulf of Mexico) so not familiar with the currents. A 31 foot vessel might have a problem. Does it say anywhere that he was an experienced boater?

dsntslp-Thank you! I read the articles but was more concerned trying to figure out the boat that was found capsized. The one's I read made it sound like a 31 ft yacht, and had to do a "Do What" turn around, until I figured out it was the tender, not the yacht he took out. I'm afraid he drowned.

Ohhh, the tender is the 31 ft boat they use to go back and forth from the yacht to land.

"The U.S. Coast Guard is working with local authorities in their search for Aguiar, which is spanning at least 3 miles offshore from where his vessel, the T.T. Zion was found."
"WPTV in Florida reports that the T.T. Zion is a tender for Aguiar’s yacht, named Zion."

"Aguiar's 31-foot, center console Jupiter boat, the T.T. Zion, a tender for the yacht Zion, landed on the sand east of East Las Olas Boulevard around 1:15 a.m. Wednesday, with its navigation lights on and engines still running, police said."

Thank you Southsleuth. I am not a boater and I read it as a 31ft yacht capsized. I thought that was small for a yacht. I learned something new today! :) TY again.

Southsleuth,
If you were to look at currents etc... for that evening at Wunderground.com or another similar site, would it be possible to figure out if it is even remotely possibly that the body found in Biscayne Bay is his?

I am sure LE would have identified him by now if it were him though.
I'll go look for a thread on the body found and take the discussion of it there.

I haven't been able to look at the charts yet.

U.S. Coast Guard ends search for missing millionaire

The U.S. Coast Guard has ended its search for a Brazilian-born multimillionaire whose fishing boat washed up on a south Florida beach this week.

[snip]

"Based on the surveillance footage, as well as witness statements, detectives are confident that Guma boarded the vessel by himself and departed from his dock as the sole occupant of the boat," a police statement said.

Troubled millionaire Guma Aguiar, who disappeared at sea, may be alive and in a "delusional state or be suffering from psychosis," according to a legal document obtained by ABC News and filed by Aguiar's mother.

The wife of missing Florida oil tycoon Guma Aguiar told him she wanted a divorce just hours before he disappeared, his mother's lawyer told ABCNews.com.

Aguiar's disappearance has triggered a fight for control of his nearly $100 million estate between his mother and his wife. His mother, Ellen Aguiar, said she believes her son may have been in a delusional state or suffering from psychosis, according to court records. She filed an emergency petition while rescuers were still searching for Aguiar's body last week. She amended that petition Monday, asking that a bank take control because it is a neutral third party, her attorney Ilene Lieberman said.

Aguiar's wife, Jamie Aguiar, filed counter documents Monday, seeking control of the estate, ABCNews.com reported.
