WE MUST PRAY FOR COLORADO :(

More flee as Colorado fire sends 2-mile wall of flame down ridge

Residents of one community and part of another outside Colorado Springs, Colo., were evacuating Wednesday as a "monster" fire there more than doubled in size from Tuesday and a two-mile-wide wall of flame was burning down the backside of a ridge.

Mandatory evacuations were ordered for the town of Crystola and part of Woodland Park after more than 32,000 people had to flee on Tuesday. How many new evacuees were moving out was not immediately available.

Colorado is having its worst wildfire season in a decade, with more than a half dozen forest fires
burning across the state's parched terrain. Some hotels and campgrounds are emptying ahead
of the busy Fourth of July holiday.

It's awful, I'm watching live coverage right now on the internet at http://media.thedenverchannel.com/livestreampage

The winds were at 6mph an hour ago, then suddenly went up to 45mph sustained with 58mph gusts (there's a nearby storm system whipping up winds)

News conference coming up on the link I provided in 15 minutes, apparently.

My heart goes out to all involved. :rose:

I have some friends in Colorado; one tells me he can smell it.
Where houses are burning he smells wood burning....
If the wind is coming from the other side, he smells PINE burring...

There are several fires at same time :(:(:( not just one area.
OMG....

GOD BLESS ALL the firefighters, the residents... and the medic....... This is very sad...:(

My bestest friend evacuated earlier today with her 3 kids..... She said its hard to breathe, and all of the beauty that we know is now black :( So devastating, and those poor firefighters are doing all they can, but its def a devastaing battle......

My aunt and cousins live Colorado Springs they havent eveacuated yet, my aunt says the smoke in the air is horrible. Here are some picture I found earlier :(

There is a fire that spiked up near my home lastnight around 12:00am. I was wakened by thunder and lighting around 2:00 and was very worried for hours. Everything around my home is literlally dead due to no rain. I took some pictures from the top of my property of the fire and smoke looking North. They are calling it the pine ridge fire....

Colorado wildfire destroys hundreds of homes

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — Colorado Springs officials said Thursday that hundreds of homes have been destroyed by a raging wildfire that has encroached on the state's second-largest city and threatened the U.S. Air Force Academy.

Mayor Steve Bach said a more accurate account will be available later in the day of the damage from a blaze that has burned out of control for much of the week and forced more than 30,000 evacuees to frantically pack up belongings and flee.

The cause of the blaze remains unknown and local authorities said Thursday that conditions are too dangerous for any such investigation to begin.

So now the Pine Ridge Fire has jumped I 70, my side. They have closed I 70 North between mile markers 49 to 62, our exit is 44. The smoke was very black, ugly and to close for me today when driving home from work. I think it has grown to around 1500 acres or more... residents living near De Beque on the south side of the interstate, mostly in farm houses and ranches, are being evacuated.
I dont like South because that means its coming our way

stay safe! My prayers are with you.

Hope it gets stopped soon! I HATE fire..... I don't use that word often, but I really hate it, and it terrifies me :(

I dont want to give exact location of where I live, but for the first time in many days I could see Pikes Peak super clear....

however, looking north towards those fires, still smokey/hazy....

we have cool temps right now - well compared to the past week and where i am no wind......hopefuly this helps

:(

This morning they have said the Pine Ridge fire did not jump the Interstate yet. They have been able to keep it at bay so far (thank god) but the smoke in the valley is horrible today, you can barley breathe this morning. Their fire line is holding as well in regards to keeping the fire out of the little town of De Beque Yay ! 5% containment this morning up to 12,000 or more acres burned since the 27th.

A time lapse video of the Boulder fire can be found here. If the winds hadn't settled down, this fire could have come down the mountain and into neighborhoods just like in Colorado Springs.
