    FOLLY BEACH, SC (WCSC) -
Investigators have arrested a 67-year-old man who is accused of sitting on a 13-year-old girl and fondling her in front of her family at Folly Beach on Saturday.

The victim's family told officers that Rogers approached them uninvited and sat down on the girl's legs, trapping her to the ground. The victim and multiple witnesses said that Rogers rubbed and touched the victim on her upper legs and pelvis area over her bathing suit.

The victim said that when she tried to get up, the suspect was forcing her down and not allowing her to get up.

An incident report states that the grandmother had to physically pull the victim away from the suspect. The family said they then went into the ocean after telling the suspect to stop and leave.

Investigators say the family was in the water for 20 minutes because the suspect would not leave. The family said that the entire time they were in the water, the suspect was staring at them and making them feel unsafe.

What is this world coming to? Why would he even DARE to do this in a public space right in front of this girls family?

Authorities charged Fred Alexander Rogers with criminal sexual conduct with a minor.

i wonder why they didn't call 911 if they had a cell phone or find someone with one? nor why they didn't go to the life guard? at least they got away from him but you would think they would have tried to contact LE or something. not putting them down or anything. chances are their first thought was just get away from him....

Sounds like the family consisted of young and elderly since grandmother says she had to pull him off the 13 year old. I presume if there were any males of adult age as part of the family, grandmother would not have been the one to do it. Maybe they didn't have cell phones with them.
    Just my opinion

OMG! I have spent many a summer on Folly and cannot imagine anything even remotely like that happening!

I guess no place is a safe place anymore!

This poor, poor kid. Imagine this guy sitting on you and groping you and nobody can save you.

Until we're in certain positions I don't think we can out and out say what we would do weather elderly or young, but the family had to go into the water to avoid him? They had to be in shock. However if that guy dared do that at the Jersey shore he'd have someone sitting on his *** and he'd be praying the cops would come.

The age of this guy I can't help but think there's some other poor girls out there were not so lucky when Fred was around.

Yes, I doubt he would have tried that if there were any males there. He may not have made it off the beach in one piece if the girls father or older brother were present at the time.

This guys was almost 70 years old!!!! WTF???? If this had been my daughter/family member/friend/etc..... I would have pulled his skinny little old-man butt up into the air and slapped it! I feel horrible for the family that endured this stupidity..... maybe they have a lawsuit on their hands with Viagra or something. Good grief!
