Moldova OKs Castration for Convicted Pedophiles

    http://www.pressherald.com/news/Mold...offenders.html

"<snip> Parliament approved the law on March 6, but President Nicolae Timofti said it violated human rights and sent it back to Parliament. On May 24, lawmakers approved the bill again, and Timofti was legally obliged to enact the legislature. <snip>"
You can hold back from the suffering of the world. You have free permission to do so and it is in accordance with your nature.
But perhaps this very holding back is the one suffering you could have avoided.

unfortunately, chemical castration can be reversed by taking testosterone...

Even if a castrated man can't maintain an erection, he can temporarily reverse the effect by taking testosterone. Also, rapists aren't necessarily driven by sexual desire; a lower sex drive won't prevent attacks that are motivated by a desire for power.

    :/

Chemical castration requires a high degree of supervision. Offenders have to keep taking the pills to lower their libido. Nor is it a total cure: paedophiles' sexual behaviour is governed not only by hormones but also by *fantasies so they will still be drawn to children.

If they're going to castrate, they need to use loppers.

How much is the Moldovan government going to get sued for when the inevitable happens and an innocent person gets wrongly convicted?

It would make more sense to just have mandatory life sentences for child molestors. A person who is motivated to molest will do so with or without being castrated, whereas if they're locked away they can't. Simultaneously, if you lock an innocent person up in prison by mistake you can still let them out again. What are they going to do if they castrate the wrong person? Sew it back on again?

They are talking about chemical castration, which is reversible.
    Just my opinion
